Hi,

I am switching apartments from a 4 room one to a 5 room one.

The construction is concrete/blocks.

The router will be placed at the apartment entrance where the communication cabinet is placed, but i have CAT6E cables threaded from there to different rooms in my apartment.

Is there any Mesh solution that I can add to my apartment to extent the wifi coverage to the whole apartment?

Sorry for the bad grammar.

Hi  @Courtline,

Archer AX53 supports easymesh, so you can consider adding easymesh routers to expand your network. For your usage environment, Ethernet backhaul will transmit the network more stably.

Hello, I'm not a TP-Link employee. While you can use that extender to wirelessly connect it to the existing EasyMesh network and extend its range, to be able to plug an Ethernet Cable into it and make it extend the EasyMesh network via Ethernet (while being part of the EasyMesh network, obviously), it would need to support Ethernet Backhaul. Check this post out for extenders that support it: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/644776. You can normally use it in AP mode, which makes a wired connection wireless, though.

TL;DR: You can extend your EasyMesh network wirelessly. To be able to extend the EasyMesh network via Ethernet, one would need a Range Extender that supports Ethernet Backhaul: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/644776.

  @Courtline

Every mesh system with an ethernet backhaul will do the job for you.

This could be a Deco system or a couple of Easymesh routers that support an ethernet backhaul - details.

It could be an Easymesh router and an Easymesh extender that support an ethernet backhaul as well.

  @Joseph-TP Thanks for the answer!

I see many options for range extenders in the link you have shared. Any specific device that you recommend?

It will be connected to the Archer AX53 through a CAT6A cable (about 15 meters cable length that I have threaded), and as my Archer AX53 device is located in one edge of my 5-room apartment, i will place it in an area that will cover the remaining area.

Hi@Courtline,

You can consider adding an identical Archer AX53, or you can consider the Archer AX55 V4 with the same specifications.

  @Joseph-TP Thanks!

I ended up purchasing RE505X. I will use one of my CAT6A sockets and plug a cable to this device. Hope this will do!

Hi Joshph,

That's great! I yesterday I aquired another AX53 router, and now after upgrading the firmware to the one you've shared, I can use Ethernet backhaul!

A couple of questions:

  1. Can i use my new AX53 satellite free LAN ports to connect nearby devices? (PS5, for example).
  2. Are you also working on ethernet backhaul compatability for other devices, the my RE505X, currently set to wireless satellite device?

Hi  @Courtline,

1. The other LAN ports of the satellite router can still provide network to the client normally.
2. Currently, there are not many models that can create easymesh network through Ethernet Backhaul, but the relevant technical department will determine whether to release firmware to support this function based on feedback and product evaluation.
