Hi

1.3.0 build 20250718 Rel. 43619

1.3.0 build 20250721 Rel. 40198

I have this strange behaviour of the DECO mesh or/and of DECO app on Iphone.:

as illustrated in the drawing, the main  deco PX50 "cellier" and a second PX50 "grange" are interconnected through a PLC channel initially reported as strong by the DECO App.

after some time, this PLC connection is no longer shown,  and DECO mesh prefers a much longer and weaker path between the 2 DECO PX50 through weak  WIFI and Ethernet across other DECO X50-Outdoor devices ("grange" and "pré" in the drawing).

the picture shows the physical connectivity as well as the logical connecitvity reported by DECO App.

If i reboot the DECO "pré" or "grange", the logical map will match the physical one for a few minutes then will show again this suboptimal path between the main PX50 "cellier" and the other PX50 "grange"

I tried to force the preferred connection of 'grange'  to 'cellier' hoping the PLC link will be prefered but without any success.

What's wrong ?

Hey bro, I have run into the same thing while working on my project Hypic. The Deco PX50 setup keeps switching from a strong PLC connection to weak Wi-Fi for no reason. Rebooting helps for a bit, but it always slips back. Hopefully TP Link drops a fix soon, ‘cause it really messes with smooth project work.

  @Zuckyliessss

thanks for your feedback confirming the issue.

In the mean time i saw in this forum that the exact same problem is reported by multiple users since 2023....   so I'm not convinced that TP link is in control....

  @t0urista

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

If we temporarily power off the two Deco X50-outdoor units for a while, will the main Deco PX50 keep a reliable PLC backhaul with the Garage Deco PX50?

If possible, when the same issue repeats, could you please help me submit the Deco App log: How to submit Deco APP log

Together with the App log, it is also suggested to log into the web admin UI and save a copy of the hardware system log:

Deco web interface login

(Please do not restart Deco when saving the web system log.)

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

Hi David

  • As you suggested, i powered down jardin by shutting down the POE/Ethernet  link between cellier and jardin.  In this case the powerline link between cellier and grange goes up and remains stable and the powerline signal is still reported as strong by grange for several hours.
  • I created a case via the app as you suggested, I included the description and screenshots.
     how can I update the case with the logs takien from the DECO itself ?

This problem should not be too complex to reproduce in TP-Link lab, you need 2 DECO PX50 and 2 DECOX50-OUTDOOR and interconnect them as described in the problem statement/drawing.
after some time  the powerline link should be ignored and replaced by the ETHERNET-WIFI-ETHERNET path.

IMO a powerlink between 2 devices should always be preferred over  any other path involving a WIFI link, whatever WIFI signal strength

Thanks and BRs
