Kasa Care - TPlink reconsider ? 2 years Free? - Might as well just throw cam away instead!
I hope this does not upset anyone, but I felt this need to be said.
Nest used to, and still does in most countries charge for cloud storage on a per camera basis.
As we can all understand this will stop many people from getting multiple cameras for their home.
Thankfully Google has seen the light, and is in the process of changing this, giving you the option of new plans which cover your entire home.
So you can buy more camera's without being hit with a new subscription for each one.
I was very sad to see TP Link have gone down this old route Goole did, and are changing a seperate subscription for each camera.
Having just bought two TP Link cameras, and being very impressed by the video quality. Very nice indeed. Top marks :)
And I would probably buy more, both inside and out the home, but I'm not going to bother, if I have to pay a subscription for every single one as that would work out to a crazy amount per year.
Given that 2 years is a LONG time from now, and I presume TP link would love to see people buying more camera hardware, do you think there is a chance that a complete home plan, to complete with Google/Nest's new home plan might be something that could be considered?

I just looked at the services...
Two options:
£2.99/month per camera
£9.99/month for up to 10 cameras
Doesn't feel like a £120/year value service.

Keep us all posted and I'll do the same.
We are obviously not the only ones with the issue. There will be plenty of disgruntled customers getting emails.

Bear in mind Ring is £24.99 a year for one camera. £80 for more.
Logitech is much better value:
https://www.logitech.com/en-gb/product/circle-2-home-security-camera/page/circle-2-safe#plans
And they support HomeKit secure Video, which for me would be free as I already have iCloud.
But their free service is 24 hrs storage.
Cameras for both these services are more expensive though

Also has anyone read the firmware teardown where they show just how insecure these devices are? Like, connecting to a hstest apn on boot if it exists... Ughhh

Hello, apologies for any misunderstanding and frustration caused by the Kasa Care subscription service recently launched in the United Kingdom.
All the customers from the United Kingdom who owned a Kasa camera will still enjoy the 2-day/12-hour video history for 2 years, which will be counted from the time upon the completion of the camera’s first setup.
We will soon update our resources on the local website.

Hi there,
Quite desapointing, I live in HK and got 3 KC-110 and 2 KC-100 and it happens that Kasa care is not availabale "in my region".
Is there anything I can do to make it happen?
It is quite annoying to scroll the 5 cameras one by one and download manually events as you may understand easily.
Regards.
