The Kasa KC100 has been discontinued as mentionned on the TP Link website.
Unfortunately on the Tapo C100 and C200 there is no such trigger given in the specs and a test turned out that it doesn't trigger on sounds.
What are the alternatives or solutions to get a sound detection trigger? Is it up to Tapo's software?
Should I look for alternative products?

Hello everyone,
With the release of Tapo Care ( paid Cloud service for Tapo camera * released in certain areas) you could now enjoy Baby-Crying detection with Tapo Care subscription, now camera could detect Baby-crying sound and send an alert / notification to the phone, at the same time triggers a cloud video clip so you could view the video when camera detects baby crying.

@nad_swe this is a real bummer for me too as we hope to use it as a baby monitor. Hope this is added in a future software update.

I was also disappointed when I purchased this item and found there is no sound detection notification. The motion detection notification is of no use to me, but sound detection is quite important as I use this to monitor if my dog is barking during the day. Would be grateful to see an update in software to accommodate this.

Hello TP-link, i am very interested in sound trigger too. C200 is really good nanny camera but this functionis really missing. Motion detection is good for security but sound trigger is good for sleeping babies. Please let us know if you are working on it or we are just wainting for something what is not on a plan. @Jollynko I bought this from Currys to hear my dog barking. The description on the Currys website says:
The Tapo C100 helps out by sending you notifications when it detects new movements and sounds
This is very misleading as it clearly doesn't send notifications for new sounds
