@Solla-topee

Hi there,

Edited: After a reboot of my ASUS router the connection with the camera seems to be stable and the camera came back online. I have lowered the resolution to 720p for testing, but have now increased to 1080p for further testing. I can live with stating the DNS servers manually in router. My test has been running now for about 1½ day.

I am also having offline issues with my Tapo cameras. Sorry to say I haven't come across a product that is _this_ unstable for a long time.

Camera model: TAPO C310

Camera firmware: Latest (I can't check it as I am having troubles getting the camera back online right now)

App version: 2.4.17

Router model: ASUS RT-AC88U

Router firmware: 3.0.0.4.386_43129

DNS set to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4: Yes

Tried disabling firewall: Yes

Retrieved diagnose_log: Yes (where do I send it?)

AP Isolation: No

Binding to one mesh point: Yes

The camera goes offline in the app randomly. I tried accessing its RTSP stream but this is not available either. It is however still connected with the router with a signal strength of -64dbm. And when I succeed getting it back online again it seems to have recorded some motion events.

This is first and only WiFi device I have come across where I explicitly need to set the DNS to something besides 'auto' in my router. It took me 3hrs yesterday fingering out why the thing wouldn't onboard my WiFi network, until I came across this hint in this thread about the DNS server. Why?!

Best regards

Martin Bang Andersen

I have someone to unplug the cameras and plug them in again and it's fine now. The problem is that I worry that it will happen again when I need to ask people to do the same for me again. It's supposed to be more reliable. I need the cameras to monitor the house when I am away. Unreliable cameras like that don't do me any good.

@datscharf

It has been running stable since last night. With some dropouts in video-frames and taking a long time to respond when accessing it from the app, but all-in-all acceptable. But this morning I tried rebooting it from the app, and though it is connected with my router, its offline in the app.

Best regards

Martin

@Solla-topee

Hi, I have tried you suggestions but with no luck.

It stills disconnect from the app (say offline) but the led is till solid green on the c200.

All the three other cams working fine. Two C310 and another one C200.

I have also tried to reset the camera and done a reconfiguration but it ends up exactly the same after some hours.

Br,

Magnus

@datscharf  Hello Martin,

Thank you for your detailed post.

Changing DNS is one of the troubleshooting suggestions, as sometimes router failed to resolve the request sent by camera and will have DNS errors in camera's log.

Thanks so much for sharing all the detailed info,to address the issue and try to fix it, we would like to have a specialist look into this further via email.You could share the camera log to us via email, please check your mailbox later, and let us know if the issue is resolved. Thank you!

@Magnus-STO  Good day Magnus,

You could try to swap the location of 2 Tapo C200 camera and check if the issue with the location.

Can you help save the log file of camera and share the model of router and the information requested so that we could better look into the issue, thank you.

May I know when did purchase this problematic camera and when does the issue start?

@Steve_Yung621  Hello,

If this does not happen very often, it is possible  wireless interference on Wi-Fi and device become offline, you could fix router channel or scan for a better wifi channel using APP like Wi-Fi analyzer.You could locate camera closer to router and make sure the camera has a strong WiFi signal as explained in the ' recommended solution' on the page 1 of this thread.  If this happens more often, can you help save the camera log and help confirm the case details as requested, we will look into the issue further, thank you.

@Kel Thanks for your advice! I turned off the 5ghz on my router, and now it has been somewhat stable for almost a fortnight. But I'm not verysatisfied with the fact that I can't use my 5ghz any longer.

@Grammen Hello,

Glad to hear that problem is now solved and thank you posting the solution. May I have a chance to know the model of your router, is a Mesh system?

If switch off 5Ghz helps with the issue, it is possible that router combined the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and led to disconnection of the camera.

You could try to turn off Band Steering (also called ‘Smart Connect’ or ‘Whole-Home Wi-Fi ‘) or Mesh on a dual-band router , create a different WiFi name for 5Ghz and see if that helps.

@Kel  May I have a chance to know the model of your Single Mesh system, much appreciated!

@Solla-topee  Hi,

I don't know the models of the modem and router. They are provided by Shaw, the network provider. I don't know if the other cameras have similar problem. If the other cameras don't have the same problem, my conclusion is that TAPO C200 can do better. I speak from a laymen point of view.

I think TP-LINK can look at their own design and blogs of other cameras to see if they have similar problem. If it's my system that caused the problem that would be the problem for any other cameras, then it's unfortunate for TP-LINK that I made such negative comment against the camera.

Regards
