Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.11

Hi,

I am unsure when it started, maybe after the latest firmware update, but the app (on iPhone) is bugging me. If I have been watching the camera stream and then just close the app or turn of the screen and then again want to watch the stream, I am either stuck with the turnwheel going round and round never updating the feed or I get the "tap to refresh" but when I tap nothing happens. I have to force close the app once or twice before I can reconnect to the stream. It happens both when I am in the same network

as the cameras and when I am not.

I have a family member that experience the exact same thing, so I don't think it's my camera that a faulty.

Hello@RikkeO , it is possible when you temporarily close the app or turn off the screen, tapo app process is affected by the phone system, as IOS often kill background programs to save memory or for other purposes, you may need to force close the app and reopen Tapo again at that moment.

May I know the model of your iphone and its IOS version, can you share a video clip of the issue?

If you try a different phone like an Android system, do you have the same issue.

Hi,

It males sense that, that is what is happening. But it hasn't always done this and it doesn't do it everytime - but it happens often. I have tried making a couple of videos showing it.

@RikkeO Many thanks for the videos!

May I know double check if issue happens when you quit Tapo app (not force close) and reopen the app?  If you force close the app, and reopen it, could Live stream load successfully most of the time? May I know is there any issue when you stream camera in the home network? Please let us know the model of your iPhone and its IOS version as well.

  • It is suggested to make sure the camera is receiving a good signal by checking the signal strength of the camera on the APP:

Tapo app-> Camera Device Settings-> tap name of the device ->signal strength ( tap on the Wi-Fi icon to see the value of the dBm/RSSI)

(-40d- 68dBm is good to average, less than -68dBm is relatively poor : relocate camera or router to get stronger signal)

As the issue sounds unusual,  we would like to have a specialist look into this further via email. Please check your mailbox later, and feel free to let us know how it goes. Thank you!

Yes, it happens when i just close the app. If I force close it never happens - that is how I fix it, when it happens. I have never experienced that the force close have not solved it.

It happens both on home network and off home network. I have a iPhone 12pro with the latest iOS 15.0.1. But it did also occur on the previous iOS-versions

The signal is -54 (RSSI).
