Model: Tapo C310
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: any

Hello,

I have recently purchased a Tapo C310 v2 outdoor security camera, to keep an eye on the garage on my remote property.
I am not so much concerned about people getting into the garage (good luck), however more to keep an eye on anyone hanging around.

The area has no internet access, however my computer network/machines are inside.
I've successfully managed to allocate the camera an IP address, however i cannot seem to get a working feed via any protocol (RTSP/ONVIF).

Visiting the camera's IP address on the network through a web browser yields an error 'No such file or directory' (this is before and after updating to the latest firmware).
I've successfully changed the username/password using 'Change Account/Camera Account', however this does not help at all when setting up in iSpy/ffmpeg etc - as it yields 'incorrect authorization information' despite rebooting the camera and confirming through the tapo application.

Can anyone advise the correct url to setup an mpeg/jpeg stream, or ONVIF/RTSP settings?
I'd love to sit down and debug, however I don't quite have the time at the moment.

baz

@Solla-topee

Turns out my 'test rig' (using VLC) was the issue.

VLC 4.0 does not come with an RTSP plugin, wheras 3.0 does.

Thanks for the links!

Hello @barrystyle

1. Tapo camera does not officially support FFmpeg, you may browse some forums like Github for more help, we found a link for error "Invalid authentication data", hope this helps:

https://github.com/JurajNyiri/HomeAssistant-Tapo-Control/issues/95

2. You may try to stream on VLC player / ONVIF software like ONVIF Device Manager, ISpy etc.

How can I play an RTSP live stream of my Tapo camera

  • ONVIF Service Port: 2020
  • RTSP Service Port: 554

  • RTSP URL : rtsp:// camera IP Address:554/stream1
  • ONVIF URL: http://camera IP Address:2020/onvif/device_service

e.g. rtsp://192.168.0.118 :554/stream1

Check if you could stream locally when PC and camera connected same WiFi network/ under the same local network.

To stream remotely, you will need to open the port ( Port 554 for rtsp,  Port 2020 ) for tapo camera's IP on your home router later.

If you use iSpy but have trouble with it, can I have a photo showing the url, and error. You may share the url by private message.

Hello@barrystyle

Do you get VLC Player official version to work for camera streaming now?   Glad to hear that you find the solution, thanks for sharing the solution!
