C210 Camera - Failed to acquire IP address
C210 Camera - Failed to acquire IP address
2021-12-30 05:04:19
Model: Tapo C210
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: V11.1.12 Build 211028

The device was connected for over 24 hours and then all of a sudden stopped working. I reset more than 20 times already and followed every instruction I can find online but still it says failed to receive IP address.

I checked the router and it has an IP address.

Hello @AO12

Can I know your ISP &  model of router ? And the Network topology e.g.  ISP -  Modem -  Router <WiFi> camera

May I have a photo of error ? I sent you a program to test Local network environment by private message, please help collect the Log file, thank you.

If Tapo failed to get IP address, you could also try some suggestion here:

  1. Turn off or lower Modem/ router Firewall settings that may block camera
  2. Check if there is any Advanced settings on router like access control/ parental control settings may affect the camera
  3. Change router's DNS to 8.8.8.8/ 8.8.4.4
  4. Reboot camera
  5. Make sure camera is connected to router directly, not through other AP or Range extenders

@Solla-topee

ISP - Vodafone

Router - TP-LINK AC1200 Wireless VDSL/ADSL Modem Router

I have attached the error message. The device itself says "Failed to receive IP address" (voice prompt from camera).

I am not using a computer to set up the device, only my phone - as I did with all of my other devices tp-link devices such as wifi bulbs and socket, also because I want to be able to view the camera and get alerts on my phone if movement is detected.

Hello @AO12

Thank you for providing the case details. The Tapo camera is in your home right?

  • Please  Try to change router DNS to 8.8.8.8 , save the settings and reboot TP-link router
  • After set up failed, refer to 2 Check the delay between a camera and a phone on local network.  try to ping camera IP on the phone when phone connected to Home Wi-Fi
  • How to check the network connection stability of a Tapo Camera
  • Try to help collect the log nder local network using the program shared by PM

By the way, is your TP-link router model Archer VR400, what is the firmware/build number & hardware of VR400?

Thanks.
