Perfect suggestion, I have the same use case / concern. Physical button on the Tapo is not a concern for me, just the (power) button in the app.

@Wayne-TP What’s the point of asking for feedback, receiving plenty of it as requested, and then never following up? It’s clear from the responses that there’s a strong demand for this feature.

I was optimistic when I first commented over two years ago, but at this point, I’ve lost hope that it will ever be considered. This is really disappointing support from TP-Link.

Maybe everyone in this thread should just move to an alternative product and not waste any further time.

+1. This is an absolutely essential feature. I just bought a P115 for monitoring the consumption of a air-source heat pump, which should (almost) never be turned off completely. Having the on/off switch in the same view as security cameras etc. is very bad, especially as our kids also use the Tapo app. Please escalate this as, like mentioned, the feature should be almost free to implement, and would make it possible for people to switch to Tapo smart plugs. I switched from another brand to view the energy consumption via the Tapo app, but if this is not fixed, I may need to switch back to previous one.

That said, I don't mind the physical button being active as if you are already standing by the device, there's always the possibility to just unplug the whole thing, and it's convenient to have the button to use instead.

Any option to lock out the on off feature as a minimum with desperate options for the switch controls is good, as the amount of times verbal commands have been miss heard turning the wrong thing off
