Block possibility of accidentally powering the Tapo plug off
Hello,
I am using Tapo mostly for energy monitoring.
Big button for turning the smart plug on and off in Tapo app in my case does no good, cause it allows me to accidentally turn my whole circuit off.
Therefore, I am suggesting a functionality that'll allow to block current plug state (on or off) in the settings or provide an option to turn on additional warning before powering off the plug.

Hey everyone! Does anyone know of any smart plug brands that offer a lock or confirmation feature in their app?
I’ve spent ages searching and was really surprised to find that NO brands seem to include this functionality in their apps. Given that, it makes sense that Tapo doesn’t have it either, apparently nobody’s doing this feature. A few brands offer physical button locks, but that’s not the same as an app-controlled lock, so accidental presses can still happen.

Yes, we definitely need a "lock power status" feature that prevents remote power changes (it still leaves the power on via the physical button).
Also because, with all the connected devices, Alexa/Google/Siri might turn it off simply because they misinterpreted the request.

This is a pretty simple request, Just add a button to disable the power button on the Devices screen. Maybe even a warning when you toggle it could be helpful. Just need something to help prevent accidental power off.
Maybe even when set to always on it disable the use of the power buttons. Or even an energy monitoring mode only without the on/off features.
Need an update on this issue

@Tapo, How difficult could it be to implement this simple feature?

@Wayne-TP I just got one of these today for monitoring the energy consumption of a 3D printer.
The ability to protect the app power button from accidental presses is a vital feature. So much so, that if I had known how easy it is to accidentally turn it off, I wouldn't have bought a Tapo smart plug, despite owning and liking multiple Tapo cameras. I had intended to buy more, but will not consider Tapo smart plugs for future purchases while this feature is missing.
I don't care about the physical button, I didn't realise it had one until reading these comments, but it would be useful to be able to configure it.
Specific suggestions:
For the physical button a per device setting "Physical Button" which lets the user choose from these options:
"Instant": the physical button immediately toggles power
"Press and Hold": after pressing the physical button for three seconds, it toggles power.
"Disabled" or "Locked: the physical button does nothing.
For the app's buttons: a per device setting "Power Button" which lets the user choose from these options:
"Instant": the way the buttons currently works.
"Press and Hold": after holding the button for three seconds, it toggles. A circular progress bar goes around the button to show how close to triggering it is.
"Confirmation": when pressed, a pop up asks you if you are sure you want to turn it off. If possible, have the "Okay" button disabled for 1 second, to reduce the chance of accidental rapid presses.
"Disabled" or "Locked": all power buttons in the app are either grayed out, or entirely hidden. This would be both on the device list/favourites page, and on the individual device's page. If grayed out, when pressed it puts a pop up saying power buttons are locked.
I believe the app buttons would be trivial for your programmers to implement. I am shocked that after years this still hasn't been done.

I would also love this feature and I was somewhat shocked it wasn't a feature.
To specify, ideally the app would allow me to toggle on/off the ability to turn the remote plugin on/off by clicking on any of the 'power icons' tied to the plug.
It would probably best be located in the Settings menu for each plug and say something like "Disable Power Toggle in the App." If a user DOES click the power toggle, it would remind them that the power toggle was disabled in Settings.
Like other users, I primarily use this to monitor energy usage of home server hardware.
