Phenomenon Description:

Case 1: Tapo P100 displays incorrect ON or OFF status in the Tapo APP. 

Case 2: Google Home cannot turn ON or turn OFF P100.

    - Google Home APP displays an error: Something Went Wrong.

    - Or voice prompt: The device is already ON/OFF.

 

 

Solution:

 

Update 12/20/2023  

Firmware 1.5.5 for Tapo P100 V1.20 has been released with relevant fixes. Update your device to the latest firmware if similar occurs on your smart plug.

 

Beta firmware is now available for the Tapo P100 V1.20 which addresses both of the issues mentioned above. If your P100 V1.20 experiences any of the described situations, please follow the instructions below to access the beta firmware.

 

How to get the beta firmware:

Please email to support.forum@tp-link.com with Title [Forum ID 614182] Tapo P100 V1.20 Displays incorrect ON/OFF Status or [Forum ID 614182] Tapo P100 V1.20  Cannot be turned ON/OFF via Google Home.
 
Be sure to provide the below information when reaching us:
• TP-Link ID 
• Mac address of the P100 V1.20


How to update beta firmware:

The Beta Firmware will be pushed to your plug over the air. Please update the firmware in your Tapo app when an update (Beta firmware) is available.

 

Be sure you have read the Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before proceeding!
 

 

**Workaround: 

Method 1: Factory reset and reconfigure the plug.

Method 2: Enable Auto-Off Timer (Device Settings -> Auto-Off Timer) when the error occurs, then try to control P100 with Google Home again or refresh the Tapo app homepage to check its status.

(Tips: Auto-Off Timer can be disabled immediately if it is not needed.)
