Hi tp-link,

Very-very frustrated and disappointed user here!

My strory goes back to February, when I purchased 3 cameras, one of them was a C520ws). The C520ws killed my old router several times, so the camera was replaced and at the same time, a Deco M4 with two units was purchased. The network was expanded with a C320ws.

It went quite well for two weeks, when the nightmare started again.

After the third time when the Deco has gone brick, it was replaced two weeks ago.

The satellite unit in the replaced package was solid red, got alive after more than 20 attempts!

Yesterday, the Deco network was not accessible again!

The app says that a special character in the password might be an issue, but IT WAS NOT MENTIONED DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCESS! It seems, I need to change the password, but in this case, do you say that I need to remove all my 4 cameras (from 3 meters height!) to be able to establish the connection because of a new password? The 3 meters long power cables are going in cable trunking, so do I need to remove them also??!! I'm an almost 64 years old women, do you expect me to climb the ladder anytime when the cameras go offline for any reason?? All in all I already spend more than 20 hours to fix the different bugs with the cameras and with the Deco M4.

To bypass this troublesome scenario, 1/changed the wifi password in the Deco app 2/changed the wifi password on my smart phone. The result: the C320ws and the C420S2 cameras are accessible but the C50ws is offline!!

Sorry to say, but is unacceptable! I see 200 votes asking for a solution for 2 years and it is not yet resolved. People like me, invest in a tp-link ecosystem with a good hope that all the smart devices are compatible with each other, which is not the case! I was considering to invest in a H500 hub as well, but no way, until these basic bugs are fixed!

  @Sutike

Hi,
Typically, the camera won't affect the Deco network. If the Deco network is unstable, starting a new thread here is recommended for further assistance.

If the Deco network is not accessible and you are unable to manage the Tapo cameras, you can try restarting the Deco units to recover the connection, rebooting the camera, and checking if you can manage the Tapo cameras.

Best Regards

Hi Solla-topee,

Yes, I raised my issue on Deco M4 on Jun 4, and the situation is getting worse. Restarting, reinstalling the Deco provides a temporary success, until a new bug arrives..

When investing in a reputable brand, you go for a piece of mind, which is not the case for me.

And thanks again for your support with my C520ws back in March. Just please address this topic and fix it!

Thanks

Being able to change the WiFi without a factory reset seems like such an obvious feature. I’m verysurprised that it wasn’t included from the start. Keeping my fingers crossed that this will be fixed soon in one of the firmware updates.

For me it's mainly Case 2.1 that's relevant for the camera I bring when traveling with my kid. Also Case 2.2 happens related to the cameras we have installed on our property since the WiFi signals change between winter and summer (when trees get leaves) and I may need to easily swap AP.

Changing the device WiFi connection is an *ABSOLUTELY FUNDAMENTAL* functional requirement - it may even be mandated by industry standards for enhanced security of connected iot devices.

It is *NOT* an acceptable solution (not even as an interim measure) to suggest customers compromise their WiFi security by making their new WiFi configuration the same as their old WiFi configuration.

This issue needs escalated to the VERY highest levels within TP-Link and a Priority One solution provided within *weeks*!

This is a fundamental security requirement - get this escalated to Priority One & implemented before end of June 2025!

This is a basic feature for any WiFi camera. Please don’t dumb down your software. I have these cameras installed in a remote location and now I am stuck.
