Hi,

I wonder whether the following scenario can be realised with Tapo equipment:

One room, there's one regular light switch. People enter, turn light on, leave the room and DON'T turn light off. That's what I want to automate.

So the use case is:

Light gets switched on manually. Then there's movement in the room for 1, 5, 20 minutes or 3 hours, whatever. As soon there's no movement for 5 minutes, light gets switched off and stays off. No automatic switching on or reswitching on. When it's off, it stays off until manual switching on again. Then the described motion detection routine takes over until switching off.

There's only one main light switch, no changeover switch at different doors or so.

Is this possible to implement with tapo equipment?

Cheers

Philipp

  @phi_hh

I think the following combination should work for you.

Product

Tapo smart button S200B

Tapo smart bulb, or a smart switch

Tapo motion sensor T100

Automation Setup

  • Rule One

Manually turn on the lights when entering the room, and activate the motion sensor's detection rule (rule two), let it turn off the lights when there are no more movements.

When S200 pressed

Then

  1. Turn On light bulbs.
  2. Enable detection automation (Rule Two)

  • Rule Two

When T100 No Motion Detected for xxx (time) <A testing feature, which will be released soon together with Smart Action 2.0.>

Then Turn Off light bulbs
