TAPO C410 Person detection not working
Hello everyone,
I installed my camera as much as I could get close to the instructions. It monitors my main entrance.
It seemed working good at first, but now it has been few days that when a person walks and ring the doorbell I only get the notification for motion and not for people.
I have also the advanced notification service, and it's a shame that the motion notification does not include a preview. Otherwise I would be satisfied too.
So, the question is: why the camera is able to trigger a motion (person approaching to the door) but does not recognize the person as a person?
Here the screenshot of my settings:

Try to disable the motion detection and leave the person detection, monitor whether person detection takes effect in this case.
As a battery camera, Tapo C410's detection replies on the PIR sensor, which wakes up the camera when detecting heat changes. When the camera is facing the direction of a person walking directly toward it, the PIR sensor might not detect enough heat change to wake up the camera and trigger detection. To improve performance, try adjusting the camera angle and pointing it more toward the side.

Hello @Wayne-TP , thank you for the explanation and for the tips. I'll try and let you know.
But, since the detection has stopped working suddendly and without any apparent reason, is it possible that the PIR sensor might have been damaged by the high temperature we had in these days? We had like 37-38° C and as far as I remember, the problem started exactly when outside was very very hot.

Hi again @Wayne-TP .
I tried everything you suggested, I even took the camera from the wall and test it inside a room. No sign of person detection at all.
IMHO, the PIR is broken. Or the firmware is not working properly.
Take a look at these screenshots:
1) July 31st: person approaching, the notification is for both motion and person.
2) Today. Camera in pretty much the same position, same person approaching. Only motion:
If I activate the tracking and get inside the picture, it says "movement":
I really hope is not an hardware problem, I would not stand the fact that everything was working fine for just a month (more or less) before going crazy. I just installed this camera to sobstitute a no-brand cheap one with few options and customizations, and now I am in the exact same situation.
By the way: even if I set a detection area, I have alarms for movements outside the area.

I am having the same problem. It works good for some time and then it's like the PIR sensors goes to sleep undefinitely and then starts working again after some days. I have two Tapo C410 and they both have the same issue, I submitted feedback with logs, it's definitely a software issue hope that a software update could solve this!
Another hint is that if you see detection events (inside battery stats) you see that there are a lot of events that are.filtered by the AI.

Hello @TheDamnedKirai . Your message gives me hope, even if I'm a little bit annoyed. Now it's been almost 10 days without any sign of PIR detection working. And I'm paying for a service (advanced notifications) that is not working either.
BTW, what FW version do you have? Mine is 1.0.18 build 240705 Rel. 56634n.
Let's hope that @Wayne-TP could come back to us with some good updates about this situation.

Thank you for the update. It seems the movement can only trigger motion detection but not person detection. To assist with this case, a specialist will help to follow up on this case, please check your inbox later and confirm.
BTW, what's the sensitivity of your person detection?

@Wayne-TP I tried all kind of sensitivity, right now is at the maximum (10) but I remember that when it was working, it was at 6.
BTW, I received the e-mail about creating the ticket, thank you.

My build is 1.10.17 Build 240524. I managed to find a workaround to temporary fix the problem.
- Reboot the camera from the App
- Switch the camera Battery to "Balanced"
- Connect the Usb to charge the camera
- Switch the battery profile to "High Performance"
- Wait for the charge to end
- It should work for some days before another crash
I also noticed that when the camera is not working the battery life doesn't go down, when it works it drains fast. Waiting for a software solution because right now I have obly 4-5 days of battery life when they are working :(

@TheDamnedKirai so it seems that even with my build , apparently more recent, the problem persists. I'll try your workaround but I have the solar panel connected so basically my camera during the day is costantly under charge...
