Dear community,

I have 3 P110 plugs that are connected to my local Home Assistant server with the integration. When it works, it works great, good stuff.

My firewall blocks all connections from the devices to the outside for obvious privacy reasons and I only allow connecting to the internet once to do the initial setup. I use the Home Assistant app to do update as I can control its accesses easily.

Problem : Whenever I unplug each of the plugs, they go to zombie mode, which in my terms means that the plug still can be powered on/off from the Tapo app and HA remotely, but loses all other features (no consumption sensor, no access to the settings in the tapo application, neither in HA). It's basically useless at this point. But it's still authenticated to my wifi and somewhat manageable, that's really weird.

As with other of my Tapo devices, the solution is always the same : let the plug have access to the internet once and everything goes back to normal ... which is exactly what I want to avoid : encrypted data that even I can't decrypt and that breaches my security to the outside. sad

So, can you please update the firmware and get rid of this really suspicious bug ? I have the problem with other Tapo devices that are also confined to my LAN.

By the way, my router is a TP-Link MR200 so it shouldn't be a problem. I reboot it regurlarly.

Many many thanks,
Swingz

Can you explain what "lost all other features" specifically refers to (in Tapo the app)? No more new energy data? Unable to visit device settings page? Any error?

It is normal for the timer, schedule, and away mode features to stop working when a locally-controlled smart plug experiences a power cut. The smart plug synchronizes its device time from the internet, and when there is a power outage and the smart plug is unable to reconnect to the internet to resync the time, all time-related features will stop to function.
