Configurable Time for Recording length following Detection of Movement or Person (C510W)
It would be useful to have the length of time the camera records after a detection configurable.
At the moment if a car drives into my driveway the camera will record the event and follow the car away from the camera's "home" position.
If the car sits in another part of my property for several minutes the camera will no longer detect movement and return to its home position.
At this point the car and person in it are outside the field of view because the camera has already stopped recording and returned to its home position.
So that I can see if said person exits the car and then smashes in my front door, I would like to be able to capture such an event. This could be achieved by allowing me to configure the length of time the camera records after the initial detection without the camera returning to the home position.
So, to achieve this two things are required:-
1. The time for continued recording after a movement detection should be able to be configured.
2. If the time above is configured then the camera should stay in the same position (unless it's tracking movement away from the current field of view) for this length of time without returning to the home positon.

Hi All,
You can go to this thread to see the reason why the detection video recordings saved to SD become shorter on Tapo C510W/TC41.
If you experience missed detection events or incomplete recordings after updating to the latest firmware, we will help you to solve it with your cooperation. Please refer to the thread to collect more information for further analysis.
If you request the feature to be able to set a longer recording time after the events stop moving, please vote on this thread and post your usage scenario for evaluation.

Hi All,
Thank you very much for your feedback here. I have forwarded the feature request to the relevant team to evaluate and improve the camera. It's suggested to pay attention to the new firmware and firmware release notes on our official website, we will update the information on the official website if there are any updates.

Hi,
From your description, it seems you need the feature to be able to set how long the camera will return to its home position after tracking.
If I misunderstand your request, please feel free to let me know.

Well if the camera didn't return to the home position immediately but the camera was no longer recording, this would be of no use since the recording would have stopped.
The recording must continue for a time after the loss of detection of movement AND the camera must maintain its last position for the set period of time before returning to the 'Home' position.
I hope that helps but if you need further clarification then please let me know.

Hi,
The camera's recording settings have nothing to do with the feature to set how long the camera will return to its home position after tracking.
1) If you have inserted an SD card into the camera and set it to record video continuously, the camera will record videos all the time.
How can I view continuous recordings of Tapo cameras on the Tapo app?
2) If you set the camera to record only when it detects events, it will record even if it rotates to another viewpoint and detects events.
Where can I find detection recordings of Tapo cameras on the Tapo app?

Hi,
My situation is more like what you described in #2.
My camera is set to record People and Motion.
A car drives into my driveway and the camera records and tracks the vehicle away from its 'home view'. The car stops. There is no further movement from the car and so the camera stops recording and returns to its home position.
Meanwhile someone can exit the car, wander around and because the vehicle and person is no longer in the field of view, the camera cannot see what is happening and anything that person is doing is missed.
If there was a time configurable before the camera stops recording or returns to the home position, a longer recording could be taken of the static vehicle.

Completely agree with this. Trying to save storage on a SD card is pointless, especially as the recordings 'loop' if the SD is full.
Ironically I am now using more SD storage using the latest firmware since I need to continually record 24/7.
The software needs to allow a time to be configured which would allow for continued recording in the camera's current position once no further detection is registered, but the camera must maintain that position and not return to the home position for the configured length of time.

@Solla-topee Is there a solution to extend the recording length that's been a problem since the recent firmware update? As it is, the camera isn't fulfilling the purpose I purchased it for (recording for longer than 15-20 seconds).

My cameras are set still and not for panning but still cut off while the actvity is ongoing. I don't care if my SD card becomes full as it just overwrites, and I would normally save anything I need before it clears.

You could try increasing the sensitivity, but you'll probably find that recordings record when there's the slightest bit of rain.
We need to have configurable the length of time which the camera continues to record after no further movement detection is registered. That way the camera will puck up any slight movement following the main detection. Currently it just stops recording!
