Tapo C720 Floodlight Remains on
Tapo C720 Floodlight Remains on
I've installed the C720 and set it up in the app. Everything works fine, except the light comes on permanently at sunset. I then have to turn it off manually.
I have disabled the Floodlight setting, but it still turns on at sunset. I also tried setting it to only turn on at 23:59 and turns off at 0:00 but that hasn't worked either.
I've also rebooted the camera several times.
Have I got a faulty camera?

Hi,
The phenomenon may be related to the camera's settings.
1. On the camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Night Mode settings page, which mode have you selected?
2. On the Tapo app > Smart tab > Automation page, have you configured any entries related to the camera or its spotlights?
Best Regards

Thank you for the response. My app doesn't have "Night Mode" under Device Settings > Video & Display but I did find an automation under the Automation page. I've disabled that now and hopefully that will sort it! It was driving me crazy.

Hi,
Thank you for your attempt. If the problem remains, please try to factory reset the camera, then reconfigure it and check if it helps.

Thanks. Disabling the automation resolved the issue. The light is now only activated by motion, and stays off the rest of the time as I'd wanted it to.

@Solla-topee
I have also got the Tapo C720 since April 13th.
When I am outside (in detection range of camera) at night, the floodlight keeps switching on. When I am sitting outside, I want the floodlight to be inactive. Whatever I try in the app, I can't seem to figure out what setting prevents the light from switching on. Can you please help me out?

Hi,
Is your usage scenario that you want the C720 to turn on the floodlight when detecting events/persons but not turn on when detecting you?
If so, the Tapo C720 does not support such a feature.
If not, please describe your usage scenario in detail.

@EricXx are you actually not wanting the flood light to trigger at all when it detects motion? I believe the flood light and camera recording zones are separate.
Try going into the settings > Flood Light Settings > Auto On Settings and disable the sensors there.
Does seem odd to have a light and camera but not want to use the light as it would have been cheaper to just get a camera in that case. Hope above helps anyway.

@Solla-topee The scenario is that when I am sitting outside in the dark, I want the floodlight NOT to switch on. I want to be able to control the feature if the floodlight turns on or not. Just like I can switch off the camera when I want to. Thx!

@mh_ I want the light to switch on. But not when I am sitting in the yard. When I am sitting in the yard I want the light switched off obviously. ;-)
