D235 Doorbell - not receiving ring/doorbell press notifications/calls
D235 Doorbell - not receiving ring/doorbell press notifications/calls

Hi,
I'm not receiving doorbell ring notifications when the button is pressed. I am receiving normal motion/pet notifications though. I've looked through my Android phone and all permissions that are needed have been granted. I've also checked any power save functions on the phone and the tapo app is unrestricted. Even with the app open, I still don't get the press notification or ring/call. It did work after initial install, the only thing I can think that has changed is that an Alexa Echo Show has been linked. I believe the Echo Show is showing the doorbell video stream on button press as expected.
I've tried disabling and re-enabling the notifications/ring fuction in the Tapo app, but no difference - still doesn't work. Is it possible to have both the Echo Show linked and receive the ring call notification?
Thanks.

Uninstalling the device, resetting and reinstalling helped.
Important: you cannot change the default device name.

Hi all, just checking to see if this has been fixed.
I have the d235 firmware version 1.1.19. I have setup always on mode to integrate to home assistant and seems to work fine. The problem is that no notification comes in for doorbell press, phone calls or regular notifications. They are both enabled on the app. I'm not paying for a subscription.
Is anyone STILL facing this issue?
Thanks

It is irrelevant to this topic if you're not receiving any notifications, not just doorbell press notifications.
For this issue, you may refer to the suggestions here. What to do if I can't receive notifications with the Tapo Cam or have a delayed notification

I am having a similar problem with my Galaxy phone and d225 camera that I just purchased. Been able to get push notifications from the video timeline but unable to receive calls to my phone when somebody presses the doorbell. I've read several posts of people having the same problem with their phone. I've checked all my settings and reset the doorbell and phone. Nothing seems to work. I hope they can get this solved quickly because this was one of the main reasons I purchased this camera. If not it will probably be returning it.

Make sure doorbell's notification feature is enabled: device settings > Notification > Activity Notification.

I have exactly the same issue with my Samsung S25. Notifications are all on and App is unrestricted for background usage on my phone. Ring notification are working most of the time but punctually it fails. Today I had 14 calls (12 on one D235, 2 on other D235 within 10 minutes) that were not notified to my Android app. But as soon as I went on the app I could see the calls. I need to be able to rely my doorbells as it is used by my children. Is it possible to have deeper look on that issue?

This worked for me on a S24. So I guess it will solve all your problems!
Go to settings - notifications - advanced settings and enable manage notification categories for each app.
Then go to settings - apps and select the tapo app. Click on notifications - notification categories and disable and enable all once.
That did the trick for me!
