@Staff555 The product specifications on the official website do not state that a surveillance-grade hard drive is required. Therefore, as long as the hard drive meets the specified requirements, non-surveillance-grade drives can also be used with the hub.
> Expanded Storage: 1-Bay, 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD, up to 16TB.

Hi Wayne,
Question about internal vs external HDD/SSD storage. I fully understand the internal 2.5 form factor SATA drive capabilities but does the H500 support an external HDD/SSD via the USB 2.0 port without an extra internal drive being fitted? This is to support 24/7 recording not just for backup.
This is based around the fact that 3.5 form factor drives are less expensive and usually larger.
Thanks.
You can connect a hard drive via the USB port, however, it can NOT serve as a direct storage path for video. It can only be used for video backup, regardless of whether a USB drive or a hard drive is used.

@Wayne-TP For HDMI mirroring, will the D225 doorbell live stream? I also get the note on screen saying, "Live stream paused. Battery powered cameras only start mirroring when an event is detected. If AI is disabled, mirroring will be deactivated". My D225 is hardwired and the app even says its being powered by my home. Yes, it has a battery also, but doorbell is set to always on. AI empowered is set up for doorbell in H500 part of app. If I walk out in front of doorbell, all works with HDMI mirring on tv. Then, it turns off once I come back in house. Doorbell streams live fibe in app and on our amazon alxea echo show.
Continuous streaming should be supported for D225 when it is hardwired and set to Always-On. For this situation, we recommend submitting a report to the technical support team and asking for further assistance. Contact Technical Support

hi I just got the H500 Hub. But it's not detecting. Saved faces or even any strangers on my doorbell camera. It says in the information I can add names from the strangers list when the camera picks it up put does not show it as a stranger or person I have already added. But does save it as a person triggering the camera. Any help please. Thanks

I also have this problem with my new H500 Hub. I have 2 cameras and a doorbell. But only one camera tags my face. The others do nothing. In my Tapo App I can see that the doorbell flags a face but the app does not give me an option to say if it is familiar or a stranger

I got to say this is an extremely disappointing product. First off, it supports only 2.5 HDD and SSD drives, but no support for standard 3.5 HDD drives, which are cheaper, come in larger capacities and are designed for continuous writing with server and camera variations from reputable brands, and are actually affordable.
OK, np, we got a usb port at the back, I can just hook up an external 3.5 HDD drive to the usb 2.0 port (super slow btw, why no 3.0 and usb-c?), nope this is not designed for that. I can't plug in an eternal drive/nas/das and have it recognized as a drive for the H500 to save to, like if it was an internal drive in the device.
So is this a joke? Why was this designed not to support 3.5" drives? Just to save some space on the design? What about weight, why would that matter for a stationary device like this?
You guys support a max HDD/SSD capacity that doesn't exist and if it did it would cost over a thousand if not more for an 2.5" SSD/HDD that doesn't even exist on the market yet. Why was so many bad decisions made for this device?
- A 16TB 2.5" SSD would cost about $1250–$1570 based on current market prices.
- A 16TB 2.5" HDD does not exist; if it did, it would likely be $930–$1200+, but this is purely theoretical due to physical and technological limits.

Are the S200D and S200B buttons expected to be compatible with the H500 hub?.
I've also read that with the H500 hub you can't perform automatisms like with the H200 hub, is this true?.
