Doorbell Notification Confusion!
Hi,
I have replaced my Nest doorbell with a Tapo D230S1 however despite the app seemingly being simple I must be missing something fundamental.
As I have other security cameras in the vicinity, I don't need the D230S1 to send a push notification to our devices every time there is motion, I just need it to notify me when the doorbell is pressed and I can look through the recorded motion events if and when I need to. If I turn off notifications for motion, I don't get any notifications when the doorbell is pressed. The only way to get round this seems to be to set up a new Smart Action which then tells the Hub to ring and a push notification to be sent when the doorbell is pressed. However doing this has stopped my phone being called when the doorbell is pressed.
The scenario I am after is simply:
- Doorbell camera to detect motion in my specified detection zone* and to record/save video accordingly to my Hub (H200).
- When doorbell is pressed, Hub to ring and push notifications sent to phones (and to record the video which presumably falls under (1) above anyway).
- Ringcall to be made to a phone.
(1) & (2) are the key things, (3) might be useful but despite looking at all the online info, the options don't appear in my settings (Android or IOS!).
I suspect the answer is staring me right in the face but I can't work it out!
* As an aside, the doorbell keeps picking up motion outside of my detection zone. Our front path is about 6m long and the detection zone goes about 4m so that there is sufficient time for the camera to trigger and record as someone approaches the door. However it keeps picking up passing traffic (mainly people walking and cycling) despite them being a good 3-4m past the end of the detection zone. I didn't get this with the Nest doorbell so are there any tips for why this might be happening?
Thanks!
