Having this issue with my C310 after updating to 1.4.2 — it was working perfectly before. I’ve set it to reboot automatically at night to see if that helps to turn on automatically on night mode. Now just waiting for the 1.4.3 firmware for the fix and no weird workarounds.

If I wanted to be a beta tester, I would sign up for the beta tester program, just like with other apps.
I don't want to read and send the MAC addresses of 15 cameras to test firmware, which is the developers' job.
To get the cameras working again, the developers just have to roll out the previous firmware.
Then, as far as I'm concerned, the real beta testers or the developers who are paid to do this can find and fix the bug.

There is no fix for the night mode on the C420 in this version?
Please see the link https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/694362
This shows the EXACT same issue with both of my C420 cameras. They don't auto switch and this has been an issue since I had them (18 months ago).
This night mode issue spans more models than the ones listed above.

I have two Tapo C200 cameras. One of them updated to version 1.2.2 and started having issues. The other one wouldn't update, even when I tried to force it, remaining on version 1.1.8.
Now, something has happened that is extremely frustrating. A notification for the 1.2.3 update appeared, and I confirmed it. However, the camera that was already having problems was offline for some unknown reason. I performed a soft reset to get it back online, but when I opened the Tapo app, the firmware update option was gone.
So now I have a camera with a faulty firmware, and the option to update has disappeared. I suspect it's gone for good, because previously only one of the cameras updated to version 1.2.2 while the other remained on the older version. I imagine the same thing is happening again.

Tapo C420 is not an affected model of the issue discussed here. For your case, we suggest that you reach out to the support agent through the original support ticket, the technical support will assist.

Thank you.
I originally reached out and they gave me a beta test firmware which confirmed there was an issue. I bought a second camera from Amazon and that also exhibits the same issue.
The only workaround is to follow the guide given here (manually change the night mode). So the issue looks almost the same?
