Playing recordings back from H200 hub
Playing recordings back from H200 hub

I am facing issues with playing videos back recorded onto the H200 hub's SD card.
My C520WS cameras have been set up to work together with the hub and save footages there.
When I check recording in playback function of the Tapo App, it lists all of them.
However, once any of the video finishes, the app drops there is no other video popup message - sorry if this isn't the correct string, I use the app in language different than English.
In the other hand, previously when the cameras saved recordings directly to the SD card placed into them, it was possible to play videos one after another continously without having mentioned pop up message.
This is the difference between camera and hub playback... it's not so user friendly to tap each videos one by one to check what happened during the day. Please add fix for this in the upcoming firmware release.
The WiFi signal is good enough in case of the cameras and the hub - this cannot be problem during the playback.
Another point is that the videos slow down for a while after every few seconds.
I didn't see this thing when the cameras recorded videos onto their SD card.
I'm not sure if the cameras or the hub cause this...
The SD cards are Sandisk Ultra typed.

Hi All,
Finally, the issues mentioned in my first post have been sorted.
Tp-link team provided great support in resolving the problems.
Slowdown appeared repeatedly after few seconds during playing recordings has been fixed with new FW pushed to the H200 hub.
Then, the no recording message appeared unexpectedly after each recordings has been fixed within a new version of Tapo trial app.
When the new FW and Tapo app version will be released officially, everyone will get much better user experience in using C520WS cameras together with H200 hub.
Let me say big thank you for all the guys at Tp-Link worked on this. Great job!
Best regards

Are you watching the video in reverse order? The video at the top of the playback page is the most recent one. If you click to view the first video and there’s no updated content afterward, it won't continue playing.
Make sure your Tapo app is updated. You can try to test this on another phone or tablet, see if the same issue occurs.

Hi @Wayne-TP,
Thank you for the reply.
No, I did the same as in case of that when the SD card was put directly into the camera, started from the oldest or older video, set the playback speed eg. 2x or 4x and just (tried to) watching records after each others.
Since I created this thread, found that this is a random issue and not affects all footages.
I found these further symptoms:
- sometimes the app plays video than properly starts the next one once the previous ends but
- there is no guarantee if the next next video will be found and playback starts
- and sometimes the playback skip few clips and starts playing a clip recorded sometimes later. For example, I was watching a clip recorded at sometime around 6AM and the app/HUB skipped some of the next clips and started to play an another recorded at 9AM.
It seems, the app/HUB doesn't recognise the next video and skip or miss the following recordings.
I didn't put the SD card into a computer and check e.g. filenames or creation date and time.
And I don't know the logic how the app/HUB determines which recorded footage is the next, maybe this is the problematic part or it doesn't save files in consecutive order.
Of course, I checked the app version (it's 3.12.108) and tried it on different Android device - result was the same.
And random slowness within the clips is also there on the another device (tablet).
Thank you.

Try to reproduce the problem, make a screen recording, and submit an app log in the app afterward. How to get the log of Tapo app
To assist with this case, a specialist will help to follow it up through email. Please check your inbox later to confirm. If the email you used to register for the TP-Link community is not your contact email or you cannot access it, please send me your contact email through private message.

@SecCamFan Any update with this? I too have the C520WS which I orginally had the Micro SD in and it worked perfectly. I have since got the H200 hub with the camera recording to the hub. I am experiencing the same issues with the slow playback also when watching footage from continous playback, when an event happens it says no video and I have to press the event at the bottom for it to play.

Hi @JAYZ303,
I'm still waiting for the new firmware.
TP-link support informed me about that the issue investigation is still in progress on R&D department's side. As they found in the logs, there is an issue with the timestamp - date in the timestamps is not matching with the real date of event detected and recorded.
Once you have free time, please check this thread:

I mentioned there another strange behaviour - missing recordings even if we were there in FOV of the C520WS camera
I'm curious if you have this kind of issue as well. If yes, we'll need to raise that...
Thanks.

@SecCamFan I can't say I have experienced any issues regarding lack of activity detections or even false alerts.
For me it's purely just playback that seems to be bugged. Do you have the issue whilst on playback just before an event there's a small black line which indicates no recording but if you let it continue playing up to the event it will just skip the entire event and continue on the next non-event recording?
It's hard to explain so I have attached a gif to show what I mean.

Hi, @JAYZ303,
Yes, I understand that you described.
I didn't experience same behaviour because I don't use continuous recording.
We have different recording settings - continuous vs. event triggered.
Probably, this is why we experienced different issues with playback.
The responsible engineer from TP-Link informed me about that the new beta FW can be released next week...

How many cameras are linked to the H200 to store video? Have you tried to format the SD card on the hub within the Tapo app?
