Firmware Version:

What are differences between different HW versions of C425 cameras -> usb type & speed, image quality, detection speed, battery life, wifi speed, compatibility with H200 and H500 hubs? Officially they are "C425" but I'm sure there is always the catch..

Here in Finland there are at least two versions, EAN 8885020622065 which seem to be latest USB-C version and then EAN 4895252500899 which seem to be V1.2 with micro-usb.

Datasheet seems to have info about one version, no idea what.. Bad thing is you usually not know which version you get, here in Finland DNA webshop sells EAN 8885020622065 (usb-c) but they sent EAN 4895252500899 versions...

From what we have learnt so far, the three hardware versions of the Tapo C425 share the same software features, with the exception of the V2 version, which has added an Anti-Theft Alarm function. Each version undergoes a thorough testing process before shipping and during software updates, product performance is guaranteed.

Generally, new hardware versions mainly involve updates to the hardware and packaging. For differences in hardware, such as the type of power port, you can verify this by comparing the datasheets of the various versions.

If there are specific software features that are particularly important to you, it’s advisable to confirm the availability with technical support before purchasing or to test the product promptly after acquisition. Due to variations in inventory and sourcing times from different sellers, the versions they offer may differ. If you need a specific hardware version, it’s best to clarify this with the seller before making your purchase.

There's technically three hardware versions based on USA FCC: C425, C425V1, C425V2, but I don't know if "C425" was ever released to the public.

https://fccid.io/2AXJ4C425

https://device.report/fccid/2BCGWC425V1

https://device.report/fccid/2BH7FC425V2

Based on the FCC documents, all HW versions are based on Ingenic T41 SoC.

C425 WiFi chip is Mediatek MT7682N

C425 I/O is micro USB

C425 V1 WiFi chip is Altobeam ATBM6441.

C425 V1 I/O is micro USB

C425 V2 WiFi chip is Realtek RTL8711DA.

C425 V2 I/O is USB Type C

V2 has BLE capability probably to make things easier to add camera on the mobile app. This seems to be the current direction a lot of cloud camera companies are doing.
