Model: Tapo P110
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.4 Build 250403 Rel.150504

Can anyone who understands the electrical engineering aspect of the Tapo P110 explain to me what is happening in the background when following scenario (which happened to me) occurs. I have my smart plug connected to a lamp which stays on and is controlled by the smart plug's on/off state. During a low-voltage problem effecting the building my smart plug was still able to draw enough power to communicate with the Tapo app (please note that the WiFi router was running on a UPS) on the app it was not showing that it was offline but if I tapped on the on button the smart plug flashed green for an instant and also made a clicking sound put the connection never engaged. The lamp did not blink on for even a split second and the energy monitoring graph confirms that it was never on because it was still consuming less than one volt required for running in an idle state. The lower threshold for the voltage on its specs sheet shows that it requires at least a 100 but I am confident that the voltage at that time was much lower than that, is there a different voltage requirement for the remote control components of the smart plug or is this possibly a safety mechanism to protect the smart plug from being damaged in such scenarios?

According to internal lab data, Tapo P110's internal module can continue to operate at a minimum voltage of 85V, providing stable voltage output to the WiFi chip, which allows the plug to maintain WiFi connectivity and communication even in low-voltage conditions. However, under such conditions, the load cannot operate properly and therefore cannot be activated. The voltage range specified in the product specifications is intended to ensure that most appliances can operate normally and to prevent the smart plug from failing to power on at excessively low voltages, which could affect normal usage.

@Wayne-TP If I understand you correctly, the second sentence from your reply is in reference to the voltage range specified for this product?

Yes. Take Tapo P110 (US) V1.60 as an example, the required voltage is 100V - 125V, when the voltage is lower than 100V, the smart plug itself might still be powered on but it is not able to provide power to the load device.
