Hi,

 

I have 3 cameras Tapo C100, all the same V2 hardware model and same firmware 1.3.16

 

Last night at 3:20AM one of the cameras suddenly started making the alarm noise very loud for 30 secs and then stopped itself. I checked the settings and there isn't anything enabled, no alarm, no motion sensors, only continuous recording is enabled and auto-reboot between 3:00AM and 3:30AM

 

That was very frightening and annoying. ¿Can be this a bug? ¿Someone accessed my camera? I changed my password, and I have 2FA enabled for a long time.

Hi,
1. If you have enabled the 2FA feature, please go to the Tapo app > Me > View Account > Login Security > Trusted Devices to see the devices that can log in to the Tapo app with your account. You can remove the device from the Trusted Devices if you don't trust it anymore.

 

2. On the Tapo app > Smart tab, please check if there are Shortcuts or Automation entries that may let the camera play sound. If so, try turning off the entries.

 

3. Please send me (@Solla-topee) the camera's MAC address via a private message. What's your time zone?

1- Only have my phone on trusted devices.

 

2- No automations configured.

 

3- Will send asap the mac address via PM. I live in Spain my time zone is CET (UTC+01:00)

Thank you for providing the information. Unfortunately, we have not yet identified the cause of the camera's sudden alarm. However, it is confirmed that only your phone can access the camera. To further analyze the reported phenomenon, please provide the following information:

 

  1. The frequency of the automatic alarm of the camera.
  2. Please refer to the instructions below to collect the camera log for analysis.
      How to get the log of Tapo Camera 
  3. Please try disabling the camera's auto-reboot feature to see if the camera won't alarm suddenly again.

Hi,

 

1- For now it has been an One Time thing, but I'm afraid it can happen in the future.

 

2- Enabled Diagnostics on the affected camera.

 

3- I disabled Auto-Reboot when this happened and for now it has been two days since last time. Also I enabled an automation for putting the camera into privacy mode when night arrives and another automation for disabling it in the morning. 

 

One more thing, I have the recording and the sound of the alarm, if you consider, I can send you the audio recording of the alarm via PM, will see it was very very loud.

Hi,
It's appreciated if you could send me the recordings and the sound of the alarm. In your situation, you can continue to monitor the camera for some time and send me the camera log if the reported phenomenon occurs again.
