Model: Tapo C325WB
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.5

Hello

Is there any way to completely disable (no timer) the spotlight in Full color mode without the camera witching to Infrared mode? In short having an option to keep full color mode without switching to IR mode or to requiring the spotlight being on.

This would be a nice feature for shooting stars/aurora at night or to still have decent color image quality in full color mode assuming there are some background lighting.

Best Regards
Claes

Hi,
Generally, if the Tapo C325WB V2 works in extremely low-light or completely dark conditions, the camera will switch to Infrared mode or turn on the spotlight depending on the settings in the camera's Night Mode Settings page to display a clear image.

Thank you very much for your feedback and the description of your usage scenario. I'll log them and forward them to the relevant department for evaluation.

Best Regards

Hello In my V1 versions of the camera there was a "Spotlight Off" option in the Video menu, however for the new V2 version this option is gone. Would it be possible to get this function back enabling Full COlor mode without Spotlight or switching to IR mode? Thanks!

Hi,
When the Tapo C325WB V1 operates under extremely low-light or completely dark conditions, the live view page of the camera may fail to display a clear image if the spotlight is turned off, potentially resulting in a completely black screen. To ensure a clear live view image, we have optimized the Tapo C325WB V2 by introducing an Infrared mode. When the Infrared mode is selected on the camera's Night Mode Settings page, in overly dark conditions, the camera can automatically switch to Infrared mode to capture clear black-and-white images, preventing the omission of detection events and recordings due to overly dim scenes.

In this case, thank you for describing the usage scenario regarding why you want the camera to enable full color mode without a spotlight. I'll log it and forward it to the relevant department for evaluation.

Best Regards

Thank you for considering adding the "Spotlight Off" option again. There are also a number of situations where both IR and Spotlight are best left off. It is easy for burglars for instance to detect IR lights and also for astronomy related usage (like viewing stars/milkyway or monitoring telescopes etc) through the camera) where IR lights disturb imaging. The latter (astronomy) is a new area where there's an increaed interest in especially low light cameras like the C325WB. I would very much appreciate if you could allow users of the V2 version also have the same option as the V1 have to allow an option like "Spotlight Off" which would turn off both spotlight/IR lights to allow low light color camera (or black and white) usage only. Many thanks!

I agree providing the same option to turn off spot lights as v1 would be better

Friday
Would prefer to have the Spotlights off option and have the ColorPro option again as is on the V1 cameras
