We have a rat problem and am wanting a camera that will detect and record if they appear. Does anyone know if the

Tapo C510W V2

 will detect rat sized objects please? Many thanks for any help.

  @Greng

Hi,
The ability of a Tapo camera to detect rats depends on several factors, including the installation location, the distance between the camera and the rat, the ambient light conditions, and more. For instance, in a dimly lit environment or if the camera is far from the rat, it may struggle for the camera to detect and record the rat.
However, the non-battery-powered Tapo cameras (such as Tapo C510W) support continuous recording after inserting a microSD card into the camera. If the rat is not detected by the camera but within the camera's monitoring area, it will be recorded, and you can still review the saved video recordings to find relevant clips.
Best Regards

Hi,
As I mentioned earlier, whether the Tapo cameras can detect rats relates to several factors (such as distance, the size of the rat, environmental conditions, and so on), and it is hard to guarantee that all rats will be detected and recorded. However, typically, detecting rats only requires enabling the Motion detection feature on the camera. The activation of the Person detection feature does not affect the camera's ability to detect rats.

  @Greng

thank you for that Sola-Topee and for the fast response!

The distance would be 2 to 4 metres, but they generally come out at night. We do have  some ambient light from a street light just outside the property.

I was concerned that the human sensing AI sytem would mean that a rat would be excluded? (We aren't worried about intruders so didn't know, (if the AI was an issue for rat detecting), if it was optional to have the AI human detection turned on or off).

Thanks again for your help
