I am writing to formally request the implementation of a crucial feature within the Tapo camera application: the ability to delete specific video files from the camera's SD card without requiring a full card format.

While the Tapo app is generally excellent and provides a robust user experience, this missing functionality presents a significant limitation and creates various challenges for users.

Currently, if a user needs to remove a particular video clip – whether due to privacy concerns, a false alarm, or simply to manage storage space – their only option is to completely format the entire SD card. This "all or nothing" approach is highly inconvenient, as it inevitably leads to the loss of all other potentially important or desired footage on the card.

Beyond user convenience, this feature is becoming increasingly necessary due to data retention laws and regulations in various countries. Many jurisdictions mandate that video surveillance footage must be deleted after a certain period of time. Without the ability to selectively delete, users are often forced into cumbersome and time-consuming manual processes:

 * Removing the SD card from the camera: This often requires physical access to the camera, which can be difficult or risky depending on its mounting location.

 * Accessing the card via a computer: Users then need a computer and an SD card reader to manually browse, identify, and delete specific files. This is a painful and inefficient workflow, especially for multiple cameras or frequent deletions.

 * Risk of accidental deletion: Manually handling SD cards and files on a computer increases the risk of accidental deletion of incorrect files or even damaging the card.

Implementing a direct, in-app option to select and delete individual video clips would provide users with much-needed control and streamline data management. This feature would:

 * Enhance user privacy: Allowing users to quickly remove sensitive or unnecessary recordings.

 * Improve compliance: Facilitate adherence to local data retention laws, reducing the burden on users.

 * Boost efficiency: Eliminate the need for physical interaction with the camera and manual computer-based deletion.

 * Increase app utility: Make the Tapo app a more complete and competitive solution in the market.

I believe this functionality is not just a convenience but a fundamental requirement for a modern security camera application. Prioritizing this feature will significantly improve the user experience and ensure Tapo cameras remain a top choice for consumers worldwide.
