Hello,

I would like to be able to give the camera a backup WiFi network (from a neighbor) in case my own WiFi shuts down or there is no electricity.

Why isn't this possible ?

what's with that 'hub' thing ?

Hi,
The Tapo C210 V1 supports working with a Tapo hub, such as Tapo H200 and H500. For example, if you have a Tapo H200, you can refer to the instructions below to connect the camera to the hub and use the Wi-Fi backup feature.
How to connect Tapo Wi-Fi Cameras/doorbells with Tapo Hub

Note: if the camera or the hub has no power, the Wi-Fi backup won't take effect.

Best Regards

Hi,
Currently, the Tapo cameras do not support the Wi-Fi backup feature on their own without the hub. You can start a new thread here with the description of your usage scenario and feature request, I'll log them and forward them to the relevant team for evaluation.
Best Regards
