Model: Tapo C320WS
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Guys, please i'm looking for a detailed answer before buying since i can't find the info i'm looking anywhere.

I want to buy Tapo C320WS mostly to Record 24/7 in a large Micro SD compatible so i can watch later on the entire footage as many days as the M.SD Card Allows.

But i'm reading mixed notes about the 24/7 Continuous Recording Option (even with all week Continuous Recording schedule enabled): it gives me the impression it doesn't records 24/7 and only records continuously if there is motion detected permanently or when there is significant motion event (even with the Continuous Recording Option enabled for all week).

1) Can anyone confirm this or clarify in detail about these mechanics (i already went through plenty of FAQs, ton of videos etc)

2) Also would like to know how to note a priori (before opening the box or even before buying) if it is V2 or V1 what i'm going to buy.

THANKS a lot!

Hi,
1. If you insert an SD card into the Tapo C320WS to store video recordings, you can enable the continuous recording feature and record videos all the time. Below are the instructions to configure the recording feature.
How can I store the Tapo camera video recordings on a microSD card

If you do not use the SD card but subscribe to the Tapo Care service, only the detection video clips will be stored on our cloud server.

2. The official website lists the C320WS V2 as supporting up to 512GB SD cards, while the V1 only supports up to 256GB. It's recommended to select V2 if you want to insert an SD card with a bigger capacity into the camera.
Below are the instructions to select an SD card that can work with the camera.
What type of microSD card does Tapo Camera support?

Best Regards

Hi @Pisto,

You can find the HW version number on the bottom of the box next to the barcodes.

  @Solla-topee The C320WS records to local SD or Cloud. I've just invested in a H500, will it 24/7 continuous record onto this hub?

  @bortron

Hi,
Please pay attention to the Tapo C320WS's hardware version. Currently, only the Tapo C320WS V2 supports working with the Tapo hub.
Tapo Smart Hub Compatible Camera List

Below are the instructions to connect the camera to work with the H500. For the H500, it supports up to 4 cameras for continuous video recording, which can be saved to the installed HDD or to the built-in storage(if no HDD is installed).

  @Solla-topee I'm not sure if you've answered the question or the answer was a bit unclear to me.

Please pay attention to the Tapo C320WS's hardware version. Currently, only the Tapo C320WS V2 supports working with the Tapo hub. - I'm aware of this.

For the H500, it supports up to 4 cameras to store continuous video recordings on its inserted SD card.

My question is can the C320WS V2 record directly (via Wifi/Ethernet) to the H500 i.e. without having a SD card in the camera itself? The H500 doesn't have an inserted SD card, it only has an internal built in 16gb and an optional expandable 2.5 inch HDD. The instructions you attached in the second link use the C425 camera as the example for hub storage which I have as well; however this only records motion/detection videos - I specifically want to know if it can store continuous recording directly.

  @bortron

Hi,

I apologize for my earlier inaccurate statement. Regarding the H500, if an HDD is installed, the camera's video recordings will be saved to the HDD. If there is no HDD installed, the recordings will be saved to the built-in storage. And the H500 supports up to 4 cameras for continuous video recording if the cameras support this feature.

The Tapo C425 is a battery-powered camera, and it does not support continuous video recording.

Best Regards
