Start Onvif only on motion detection
Is it possible to start the onvif transmission only if a motion has been detected so that relevant information is being transmitted to the NAS system? At the moment the system continuously uses the WLAN and the NAS stores the total stream 24/7.
I would prefer only to store the same information on the NAS that is stored on the camera card.

Hi,
Tapo cameras do not support the feature to start the Onvif connection only if a motion has been detected.
If you only want the NAS to store the detection video clips, you can contact your NAS device support to see if it supports this feature.

thanks for the fast answer!
I think this is a missing feature that they should provide as an option to avoid traffic on the WLAN. I suppose it works with TapoCare storage, so why not with private NAS?
Storage size usually is les critical and the NAS can be set to store only relevant information, as you propose.
kind regards

Hi,
Usually, if your NAS and the camera are on the same network, the Onvif stream will not consume online traffic on the WLAN. Even if the router has no internet connection, you can still establish an Onvif connection between the camera and the NAS.
