Tapo c520ws

So I have two C520WS cams.
One is v1 at fw 1.3.2 and the othe other is v2 at fw 1.1.2 both being at their latest firmware.
The v1 is mounted on the wall at about 6 feet above ground overlooking the front door, the street which is low to moderate busy with pedestrians, cars and pets.
The v2 is mounted on the wall at about 8 feet above ground overlooking our terrace and part of the backyard with very low traffic. Only two people and two cats.
V1 detects and tracks everything as it should, night and day, cars, persons and pets.
V2 is set to detect and track only pets and it detects exactly nothing.
Why ?

Alex

Hi,
Typically, you can refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot if the detection feature is not working.
What to do if the Detection feature is not working on the TP-Link Camera?
If the reported behavior persists, please confirm the following information.
1) Please go to the Tapo C520WS V2's Device Settings > Detection page, check what detection types are enabled, and the corresponding detection sensitivity value.
2) Send us a screenshot of the detection zone.
3) Please let your pets move within the camera's detection zone, record a video on the camera's live view page manually if the camera won't detect the pets. Then send us the video for analysis.
4) How do you judge that the detection feature is not working? For example, is the notification or alarm feature for pets enabled, but no notification is received, and the camera does not alarm when a pet moves within the detection zone?
You can upload the video and screenshot to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

I think I got the answer.
While the v1 sees traffic crossing its line of sight, v2 is seeing pets traffic coming towards it.
This morning I had the first trigger of a "Pet detected" on v2 as the pet was crossing ts line of sight.
So I guess v2 will need to find a new place to be installed.

Hi,
The Tapo camera features a built-in detection algorithm; however, its effectiveness can depend on several factors, including the camera's installation location, the size of the pet, the distance from the camera, environmental conditions, and so on.
You can try installing the camera in a different location to see if it performs better. If the same behavior persists, it's recommended to refer to the tips in this post for troubleshooting.

So I changed the location of the camera in question and now it performs much better.
Thanks,
Alex
