Router: Sky router
Description
A recent discovery found that when the listed Tapo battery camera or doorbell is connected to a Sky router, especially the SR203, it might cause the camera to exhibit the following issues:
- Frequent WiFi disconnection: the camera frequently disconnects from the WiFi network, despite receiving a good WiFi signal strength.
- High battery drain: the camera's battery drains rapidly during normal usage (low time of use and wake-up times).
Solution
Our R&D team has implemented optimizations on the camera that can effectively improve the situation.
Before the official release, community users can have early access to the new firmware. If your device experiences similar issues with the mentioned router, feel free to apply the beta and try it out!
How to Apply Beta Firmware?
1. Check the Mac address of your Tapo camera or doorbell.
2. Send a private message to @Wayne-TP with the following information:
- Mac address of your Tapo camera or doorbell
- Model of your Router
- Brief description of the problem
Before the Upgrade:
(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the Pre-release firmware!
(2) How to update the firmware of the Tapo devices on the Tapo App
(3) Firmware downgrade is not supported. When a new official version is released, updating it will overwrite the beta version.
