Model: Tapo C200C
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.2.3

Hi my C200C is unable to maintain a stable connection on my home network. My wifi access points are thee M4R units (EU) version 2.0 with the latest firmware. They are all access points with my DHCP server and route to internet being provided my internet provider router. I have four other Tapo cameras that work just fine.

All cameras provide a RSTP feed to my Frigate instance.

When the C200C camera goes off-line no status LED lights up and I cannot ping the device. I have the status lamp turned off by default.

Although the camera is offline it keeps recording motion but all .mp4 video files written to the card after the last write to the diagnose_log file have no date in the file name i.e.:

20250903_152218_tp00000.mp4 before the last entry to the log file. After that they are all listed as xxxxxxxx_000000_tp00001.mp4, xxxxxxxx_000000_tp00002.mp4 etc.

Removing the power plug and turning it back on brings the camera back up but within 48 hours it crashes.

I have a diagnose_log file available for your support team.

regards,

Rob

Hi,
1. You can go to the camera's Device Settings > Reboot Camera page to enable the Auto Reboot feature and check if it helps.

2. If the same offline behavior occurs, please confirm the following information.
  1) When you try to ping the camera's IP address after it goes offline, is your phone connected to the same Wi-Fi as the camera?
  2) Is the Tapo C200C connected to your router's Wi-Fi or the Deco M4R's Wi-Fi to go to the internet? If the camera is connected to the Deco's Wi-Fi, please check if the following instructions will help you.

Hi, last night I rebooted the camera with the status LED enabled. Today it had crashed again and the light was solid orange.

The only wifi I have is from the Decos. Both my laptop that I used to ping, my phone and the C200C are on the same flat network. The wifi on the router from my Internet provider is disabled and not in use. The Deco network is WPA2 only. The routers do not offer WPA3 as an option.

I have enabled auto reboot on the C200C and partly followed the instructions for the Deco routers. I have turned of the mesh functions for the device but have left beam forming and fast roaming enabled. My other C100, C200, C310 and C500 cameras work fine so I would expect this is a software issue for the C200C.

I'll let you know what happens the next 48 hours. If the device is still crashing I will try turning off beam forming and fast roaming, but for the moment I will see what happens.

Thanks for your help.

Although I turned off the mesh options for the camera on my Deco access points the camera still crashes. It is now set to reboot but it remains unstable. The LED changes from green to orange.

I have no turned off the beam forming and roaming functions on my Deco access points.

Hi,
You can try turning off the beamforming and roaming functions on Deco units. If the same behavior occurs, please follow the instructions below to collect the camera log and send us the time, date, and time zone when the offline behavior occurs.
How to get the log of Tapo Camera

By the way, when did you purchase the camera?

Best Regards

So I have turned off all beam forming and roaming functions. I will reboot it and collect a log as asked. I purchased the camera about a month ago via Amazon.

Hello, the camera rebooted sometime between 3am and 3.30am and when I looked at it this morning it has crashed (in the sense that there was no network connectivity). I have verified that all mesh, roaming, beam forming options have been disabled on my Deco routers. I cannot post the log here as it seems to contain characters and /or URLS that are illegal when I click on 'post'. How can I send this file to you?
