KS220M dying out of nowhere
KS220M dying out of nowhere

I have the exact same issue as described in this previous post:
https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/641150
I'm disappointed to see that there was no answer resolving the issue from 2 years ago.
I currently have several KS220M installed in three bathrooms in my house. Everything works for a while, but then they just stops working (never all at the same time. When this happens, it's like the affected dimmer's hardware has crashed. Even the physical buttons do nothing, Nothing works. ie. If I attempt to trigger it using the motion sensor, the physical button, or the app and the light doesn't change states (sometimes it is stuck off, other times it is stuck on). It continues to look online in the app.
When I press the restart button on the right, bellow the main switch, the switch reboots and works again for a while.
This is happening often enough that I may have to remove them. 🙁
Has anyone else had this same issue and found a fix?

What are the firmware version of your KS220Ms? Are they all 1.0.11 Build 240514 Rel.110351? How long have you been using them?

I have 2 KS220M also behaving the same.
Hardware version: 1.0
Firmware version: 1.1.6
Tried a full reset, but that did not make a difference.

I have the same problem, the dimmer freezes and is unresponsive until the restart button is pressed.
I even added a home assistant automation to reboot it twice a day, it did not help.
It can freeze while on or off, I have seen both.
I have 2 of them and both do the exact same thing.
KS220M
Hardware version 1.0
Firmware 1.1.6
P.s. no problems with HS220 or HS200

They were all running the same 1.0.11 firmware, but I have since upgraded all of them to the latest firmware.
Model: KS220M
Hardware Version: 1.0
Firmware Version: 1.16 (upgraded since first post)
As for how long I have been using these devices:
- KS220M first joined your network on February 2, 2025 at 8:26 PM
- KS220M first joined your network on February 2, 2025 at 7:56 PM
- KS220M first joined your network on February 9, 2025 at 5:06 PM
- KS220M first joined your network on February 15, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Things seem better since the latest firmware, but I have experienced the issue described in my first post a few times.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

@jbc7 @ValentinMTL @GervaisdeM
I learned that there is a new firmware available that optimizes KS220M's performance. It should help resolve this issue. If you would like try it out, send me the Mac address of your KS220M through a private message.
Before the Upgrade
(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the Pre-release firmware!
(2) How to update firmware of Kasa smart devices
(3) Firmware downgrade is not supported. When a new official version is released, updating it will overwrite the beta version.
