Model: Tapo C325WB
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.5

I bought two Tapo C325WB cameras for color night vision. I configured the first one with version 1 and 1.3.7 firmware and is ok, while the other was with version 2 with 1.1.5 firmware..this have automatically activates the infrared there's no way to disable it. When I reboot the camera on the second attempt, the infrared turns off and the camera sees in color for a few moment. There seems to be a configuration issue since the two cameras also have different setting, spotlights off is not available with a problematic camera, i have try reset but not work and the firmware not change

Hi,
The firmware of Tapo C325WB V1 and V2 is not compatible, and there are slight differences in functions.

When the Tapo C325WB V1 operates under extremely low-light or completely dark conditions, the live view page of the camera may fail to display a clear image if the spotlight is turned off, potentially resulting in a completely black screen. To ensure a clear live view image, we have optimized the Tapo C325WB V2 by introducing an Infrared mode. When the Infrared mode is selected on the camera's Night Mode Settings page, in overly dark conditions, the camera can automatically switch to Infrared mode to capture clear black-and-white images, preventing the omission of detection events and recordings due to overly dim scenes.

If you prefer the Tapo C325WB to display colorful images while keeping the spotlight off, please let us know more about the lighting conditions and usage scenarios where you'd like to place the camera. This information will help us provide you with appropriate suggestions and offer feedback to the product design department to improve our camera.

Best Regards

I've always used this camera in completely dark conditions and the results have always been excellent because in live view I could see an image as if it were daytime. I bought a second identical model to have the same function, but now with this version I can't see in color in the dark unless I turn on the spotlights. This is not normal and I don't want to. If there is no way to restore this functionality or you find a solution, I will return this camera and stick with the C32WS, which is very cheap and works with infrared, thanks

Hi,
If you are willing to continue to troubleshoot, please send us a picture/video of the Tapo C325WB V1's live view page when it is in a dark condition. This helps us check if the light condition is sufficient for the Tapo C325WB V2 to display a colorful image without turning on the spotlight.
Best Regards

I have a similar problem. In extreme low light V1 will display in color. V2 in the same spot will only be in black and white. In my scenario I don't want the spotlights on either as that only attracts unwanted attention to the camera and I also don't want the area lit up. V1 has the setting for spotlights off. V2 does not have this option in the settings and only infrared mode for black and white images in low light.

What do the settings need to be so V2 remains in full color without spotlights on?

Thanks

Hi,
As you can see in this post, usually, the Tapo C325WB V2 is unable to display a full color image without the spotlights on in extreme low light conditions.
In your situation, I'll log your usage scenario and feedback, then forward them to the relevant team for evaluation and improvement of our product.
Best Regards

This is my V1 scene and it's completely dark. The Color Pro on this model works perfectly and i want to continue using this feature for the V2 model as well.
I am also of the opinion for not use spotlights to have color live feeds and attract attention and for this i want to decide what's best for me with the scene. I bought a second model to have the same feature, but currently I find that this version can't do it and I'm limited to spotlights or black and white, this is frustrating. I tried removing and configuring by selecting the V1 version, but it doesn't change settings and stays with the V2.

I am waiting for a solution with an update in these days or i return this product, when you buy there is no option to choose V1 or V2

In the box of V2 it states ...."Tapo C325WB provides professional protection and enables you to see clearer even under ultra low light conditions by revealing bright color images without needing spotlights"

Would this be false advertising? The box says full color without needing spotlights

Tapo's site also has this information (also states vibrant colors in ultra low light without needing extra lighting). V2 does not have this option and either forces b&w or turning on the spotlights - the camera was purchased specifically for the 'colorpro' technology:

What’s ColorPro™ Technology?

Tapo developed ColorPro™ to address the unclear nighttime imagery prevalent in traditional security cameras. This innovation captures vibrant colors in ultra-low light without extra lighting, providing daytime-like clarity. It's crucial for accurately identifying details like faces and license plates, even in pitch-dark conditions.

Hi,
Does Tapo C325WB V2 enter Infrared mode when placed in V1's location, or is V2 installed in a different location to monitor a different scene? If V2 is in a different location, could you please move V1 to that location and check what the live view screen displays?

If you place V2 in V1's location and it enters Infrared mode, I can escalate your case to our tech team for further analysis, which may take some time. If you need a solution soon, returning the camera may be the more suitable option for you.

By the way, V1/V2 refers to the camera's hardware version, which will not change because you selected V1 when configuring the camera.

Best Regards

Hi,
The Tapo C325WB V2 can indeed display a colorful image without spotlights in ultra-low light conditions. However, if the ambient light level drops below a certain threshold (the camera has a built-in threshold value), the V2 will enter infrared mode, providing a clearer black-and-white image if Infrared mode is selected on the camera's night mode settings page.

If you place the V2 in the V1's place and the V2 enters infrared mode, please send us the live view images of both V1 and V2 if you would like further analysis of the case.

We highly value your feedback on adding the spotlight off mode (full color mode without spotlight) to the V2. I will forward this request to the relevant department for evaluation to improve our camera.

Best Regards
