Extract Detection Logs

Hi,
I have a number of different wired TAPO camera models (e.g. C840, C260, C720) all with local SD card storage and set for continuous recording at certain times of the day/night.
The TAPO App on Android does a great job overlaying events (mostly motion detection) onto the continuous recording.
I am trying to find a way to extract only the date and time of the detection events, no need for the actual video recording.
I've tried viewing the SD card from a Windows PC but the continuous recording actually splits the recording into 256MB chunks and the date/timestamp in the file name is not the actual event and I cannot find a way to get the data needed from the other files.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Regarding your feature request, could you please provide a detailed usage scenario and explain why you need to extract only the date and time of the detection events?

Hi @Solla-topee
In this specific instance we are using camera's to record sleeping/waking patterns of a young adult with a learning disability as background for medical professionals to assist in formulating a treatment plan.
If we share the recordings with medical staff, they only get the raw MP4 version so we need to provide also the activity moments that the cameras are doing a really good at detecting.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
Thank you very much for the detailed description of your usage scenario and explanation. Currently, the camera does not support the feature to extract only the date and time of detection events. While we don't have specific details on whether this feature can be added to the product or when it might be, I'll log the feature request and pass it along to the relevant team for evaluation.
I moved this conversation into the 'Feature Request (Tapo)' area for better visibility. If other users have the same request, please vote on this thread or share your usage scenario for evaluation.
Best Regards

Hi,
Do you want to view separate detection video clips saved to an SD card outside of the Tapo app, such as on a PC, and have the detection video clips' names be the time they were created?

Hi @Solla-topee
Your suggestion would help, but I'd then need to extract the detections from the file name, as I need a list of the detection date and time.
Unfortunately I'd also end up with a large number of clips (50+ per day) alongside the full video (continuous recording) and this may become unmanageable.
I'd prefer to be able to extract just the date and time of the detected event and share this alongside the continuous recording video set.
Thanks
Billy
