Solution Solution: sudden malfunction of Tapo camera/doorbell (liveview, detection, etc) linked to Tapo H200
This Article Applies To
- Tapo H200 (EU/US/JP) 1.0 - Firmware 1.5.2 Build 20250603 rel.59798 or 1.6.0 Build 20250915 rel.33520
- Tapo cameras or doorbells that are linked with the Tapo H200:
- Sub-devices of the Tapo H200
- Stored videos on the Tapo H200
Description
If you have a Tapo camera or doorbell that is a sub-device of the Tapo H200, or the video storage path is set to a Tapo H200, and the H200 is in the above firmware versions, you might notice the camera or doorbell suddenly stop functioning correctly, such as:
1. The camera live view fails to load, displaying the message "Tap to Refresh."
2. The camera's LED shows it is online (e.g., solid green), but the detection and recording features stop working, and there are no detection notifications.
Solution
Fixed in Tapo H200's latest firmware 1.6.1 Build 20251230 rel.64168.
Note: New firmware releases are typically done in stages and are not sent to all devices at once. If your device has not yet received this version of firmware, please be patient as the firmware release will gradually scale up to 100%.

@Wayne-TP I just checked and my H200 had already updated itself to the new version. Thanks.
All seems to be working so far - although it's one of those reliability issues that will need to be proven over time. Crossed fingers!

I have this 1.6.0.Build 2025090915 ref 33520 firmware in my H200 and D205 Doorbell and have the the Jingle bell problem and also i am not receiving any doorbell pressed notifications and also cannot communicate/speak to anyone who presses the doorbell.
But my H200 Hub says it has the latest firmware?..and is on Auto update.
I only purchased the H200 and D206 Doorbell last week!
Should it have access to the latest firmware? Can you tell me if it will cure my problem please and when will my H200 receive this firmware update?
I have spent many hours trying obtain solution with different settings from various Threads on this forum which just don't work.
I am getting very frustrated with this equipment...
Thank you

Hi,
I'm still having issues with my H200 and two C420 cameras.
H200 is firmware 1.6.1 build 20251230 rel 64168
C420 are firmware 1.4.1
These cameras have been in the same place, the hub the same place and my internet setup has been the same for two and half years and I've had zero issues. Since all these ridiculous updates I've had nothing but problems.
The cameras are connected to the hub and I can get all the info from settings etc but I STILL cannot get live view or recordings from the cameras.
I've tried every fix from this forum, resets, opening ports etc etc and nothing has worked. Frustrating really as they have been great cameras and now they're useless!!!
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks
Arron

Wel,l after communicating with TapoSupport and rebooting the D205 I now have Notifications and can communicate with a caller. So part of my issues resolved.
However I still have the problem with the H200 Hub playing Xmas 'Jingle bells' every time the D205 doorbell is pressed.
I have Ringtone3 'Ding ding' set in the D205 Doorbell.
I have Ringtone3 'Ding ding' set in H200 Hub. Note if I play doorbell in the H200 it only plays Ringtone3 'Ding ding' as it should.
The problem though is when the Doorbell is pressed it plays the H200 Hub plays 'Ding ding' followed by 'Xmas Jingle Bells'. So very annoying!
H200 Hub Firmware(App says up to date) is 1.6.0 Build 20250915 ref 33520 .
I understand there is a later firmware?...Does this newer firmware cure the 'Jingle Bell problem maybe?
All idea's will be gratefully received to cure this problem.

You can continue reporting this issue to the support team. For best results, include a video demonstrating the problem, along with screenshots of the ring settings -- the doorbell ringtone settings and the hub’s ring configuration.
