New user schedule home and away
Hi all,
just abounded Dlink unstable cameras and app....
I want to exchange 4 outside Dlink cameras.
First try is a single C310.
Excellent picture quality and correct person detection.
But how do I setup this schedule in the app:
While using "coming home" (=privacy mode) I want to inhibit privacy mode every night between 00-06 Monday-Sunday.
Looking forward to your skilled advise.

Hi,
thanks for your wise suggestion.
Now I finally understand the app ( shortcuts and automation ) and also reached my goal !
On top of the home page there are two shortcuts installed from start.
"Coming home" and "Going away"
Right?
Instead of creating new "personal" shortcuts I edit these "original" shortcuts in the smart section.
I summarize all steps below as I guess other users reading this post can have good use of a complete solution:
Shortcuts
Coming home
1. Set camera privacy mode on
2. Set both "NCON" and "NCOFF" automation ON
3. Send a confirmation note that "Coming home is set"
Going away
1. Set camera privacy mode off
2. Set both "NCON" and "NCOFF" automation OFF
3. Send a confirmation note that "Going away is set"
Automation rules
NCON
Effective time =always
When = 23:00
If = camera privacy mode on
Then = camera privacy mode off + Send confirmation note "Night watch activated"
NCOFF
Effective time =always
When = 05:00
If = camera privacy mode off
Then = camera privacy mode on + Send confirmation note "Night watch stopped"

Hi,
You can turn on or off the camera's privacy mode at a specific time via the Smart Action > Automation feature.
How to create Smart Action (Automation or Shortcut) on Tapo app

Hi,
Thanks for your tip.
But I must an idiot not figuring out the actual setting for my need ( I have tried several )....
New Automotion
Effective time
When
if
Then
Can you perhaps guide me step-by-step ?
Goal:
Selecting "Coming home" (privacy mode)
But between 23:00-05:00 the camera shall be on for person detection
Rest of the time (05:00-23:00) turn the camera to privacy mode
When leaving home I want to select "Going away"
and starting person detection all day and night.
When back home again select "Coming home" with the 23:00-05:00 person detection on again.

Hi,
In your usage scenario, you can configure the following settings on the Tapo app > Smart tab > Automation page.
1. Add a new automation entry, Effective time is always, when the time is 5:00 every day, then turn on the privacy mode.
2. Add the second automation entry, Effective time is always, when the time is 23:00 every day, then turn off the privacy mode.
If you want to achieve the "Coming home" goal you described, enable the two automation entries above.
If you want to achieve the "Going away" goal you described, disable the two automation entries above.

Hi,
Finally I got your idea about using Automation rules and setup.
Thanks !
But as far as I tried, it's ending up in a bit clumsy result...
Steps:
1. Creating a Automation rule called Night camera on ("NCON")
Effective time=always / When= 23:00 / If=Privacy mode on / Then=turn Privacy mode off
2. Creating a Automation rule called Night camera off ("NCOFF")
Effective time=always / When= 05:00 / If=Privacy mode off / Then=turn Privacy mode on
At home page selecting "Coming home" everything works smooth and correct.
Privacy mode on during the day and Privacy mode off between 23:00 - 05:00.
Selecting "Going away" initially starts correctly with Privacy mode off.
But after the first night the camera status is ending up at 05:00 in Privacy mode on - due to rule NCOFF.
The work-around as you suggest to always have the "Coming home" selected in Home page and instead toggle NCON+NCOFF rules seems a bit odd.
Is there any way to automatically override these 2 Automations rules when "Going away" is selected in the home page ?

Hi,
I'm not sure what you mean by saying "At home page selecting 'Coming home' or selecting 'Going away' ", as on the Tapo app > Home tab, it's unable to add the Smart Action (Shortcut and Automation) entry.
In your usage scenario, with the "NCON" and "NCOFF" automation entries configured, you can add shortcut entries to achieve the desired outcome.
1. On the Tapo app > Smart tab > Shortcuts page, add an entry called "Coming home", and the action is to turn on the "NCON" and "NCOFF" automation entries.
2. Add the second entry called "Going away", and the action is to turn off the "NCON" and "NCOFF" automation entries.
3. Then, you can tap the "Coming home" or "Going away" shortcuts to achieve the desired outcome.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing your experience! ![]()
On the Tapo app > Smart tab > Shortcuts page, if you tap the three-dots icon on a Shortcut entry and enable the "Show on Home Page" option, you will see this Shortcut entry on the Tapo app > Home tab.
