Post Upgrading Tapo Camera to 1.3.1 firmware, local recording capacity has halved from before
I have recently upgraded firmware of my camera C201 to 1.3.1, post this upgrade my local storage capacity has suddenly reduced to 50% from before. I am having 256 GB of Sandisk SD card but now getting only 15 days of local recording. This recording was for 30 days before the upgrade. I had tried to change the video quality to 720P, formatted the disk, rebooted the device, but no luck. Is anyone facing similar issues

Hi,
Typically, updating the camera's firmware won't change the microSD card's capacity. If your microSD card fills up faster than expected, please refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot.
What can I do if my Tapo camera's microSD card fills up faster than expected?

Hi,
Usually, you can download a video from the SD card, open it with Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player, and check the resolution and frame rate in these players.
For example, in Windows Media Player, you can open the video, right-click it, and select Properties > Details to find the resolution and frame rate.
For the reported phenomenon, please confirm the following information for further analysis.
1. Do you have a 256GB SD card inserted into each camera? Or do you have a Tapo hub with an SD card inserted, and all cameras save video recordings to the same SD card?
2. Are all Tapo C201 cameras set to continuous video recording?
3. What's the video's resolution and frame rate you confirmed?
4. Please send us a screenshot of the camera's Device Settings > Storage & Recording > Local Storage page.

Hi,
1. On the camera's Device Settings > Detection page, please check what detection types are enabled.
2. On the camera's Playback & Download > Playback > SD card page, please estimate the percentage of detection video clips in the total video recordings. Generally, video recordings of dynamic scenes require more storage space than those of static scenes. If there are more dynamic scenes within the camera's monitoring range, the SD card's recording duration will be shorter.

Hi @Solla-topee ,
I have not enabled any detection. Tapo should recreate this scenario in lab as this is something to do with the new firmware

On your end, it's also suggested to download a video from the SD card, open it with Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player, and then check its resolution and frame rate. You can then email the test results to our tech team.
