Hi,
Typically, if the camera's Detection feature is disabled, it won't work, regardless of whether you open the Tapo app.
What's your camera's model number, hardware version, and firmware version? How do you confirm the camera's detection feature works after you open the Tapo app? Please provide a detailed description of the phenomenon you experience so I can better help you.
Best Regards

@Solla-topee, I cant get at the model number C410, Hardware is 1.20 and Firmware is 1.0.4.
My camera ran out of battery so brought it in and recharged it. After that the detect stopped working. When I open the app and then the detect button the detect is switched off. It switches its self off when I come off of the app. I can record live but detect no longer works unless I open the app and manually put it on. I come out of the app and does not detect anything again, so go back into the app and it has switched to off again. Before I recharged it, it was working perfectly

Hi,
For the reported phenomenon, please try the following steps and check if they help.
1. Uninstall the Tapo app on your phone and install the latest version.
2. Log in to the Tapo app and go to the camera's Device Settings > Detection page. Refer to the following instructions to configure the Detection feature.
How to use the Detection function of the Tapo cameras
3. Force close the Tapo app and check if the detection feature works. If not, log in to the Tapo app again and check if the detection types are still enabled.
4. If all detection types are disabled, please try to repeat steps 1-3 on a different phone and check if the same phenomenon occurs.

Hi, I have done these steps several times. I have also removed the app and re installed, I have rebooted, updated firmware and done a factory reset. I have now done a force stop. Nothing works. I am unable to use another phone to do this as there are no other phones available. As I stated previously, it worked perfectly well before the battery died and then I recharged it. There must be a fault because it is not working now when it did perfectly before, I know how to use the detect, I have tried it on a low detection setting which also doesn't work, and I put it back up to 10. Its so frustrating, someone tried to steel lights from my garden and made such a mess but did not detect them

What's the model number and OS version of your phone? Please go to the Tapo app > Me > About page to see the app's version.
