Dear Community and Tapo support folk,

I foolishly accepted a Tapo pop-up (v 3.15.106) to add 2-factor authentication to my app.... I'm now wondering if it was a scam... there was some challenge to get logged back in but now my ios app shows no devices (and thus none of the associated configs and saved data).  Having spent 2-3 hours on the net and on my local network trying to solve with an array of possible fix combinations, please, i'd love to know what's broken. with me or the app. I run an ASUS mesh network (rt-ac86u + ac68us), with 2 cameras on ethernet, and plugs and bulbs over 2.4G. No special vpns, and tapo app has network access. Has all been great until i setup 2 factor auth.

...I should add, i switched off 2-factor auth to no avail.... As the cameras are rather important, I've just reset them and re-added them to the app. But still have 5 plugs and 3-4 bulbs with their own configs still loose in my home. I'm wondering if possibly I was never signed into the app in the way that was required for 2-factor auth ? i.e. with email vs ID...? I've clutched at lots of straws, hence resigned to reset of all devices :(

Hi,
Typically, enable the 2FA feature as the instructions below won't cause all Tapo devices to disappear from the Tapo app.
Making Your Account More Secure: Introducing Two-Step Verification (2FA) for the Tapo App

For the reported phenomenon, please confirm the following information for further analysis.
  1. If you have not reset the Tapo plugs and reconfigured them, please send me the model number of the plugs and the LED status on them, such as solid green, solid red, etc.
  2. No Tapo devices displayed in the Tapo app may be because you have logged into the Tapo app with another TP-Link ID (the TP-Link ID is in email format). Please send me (@Solla-topee) your TP-Link ID, a camera's MAC address, and a plug's MAC address via a private message for checking. You can find the TP-Link ID on the Tapo app > Me > View Account page.

Best Regards
