Tapo app (Android): If you have many automations and/or shortcuts, the lack of management options can be frustrating.

There is no way to sort automations or shortcuts, and you can't search, filter, or tag them. I wish you would implement these missing features.

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback! To better evaluate your feature request, we would appreciate it if you could provide some additional information. For example:
  1. By what criteria would you like to sort the smart action entries? For example: date, number of clicks, etc.
  2. What keywords would you like to use for searching? What criteria would you like to use for filtering? For example: time range, etc.
  3. What types of tags would you like to add?
  4. Other requirements

Best Regards

Hello!

To start, let's keep it simple.

Regarding sorting, I was thinking of manual sorting, similar to the current implementation in the app. For example, on the 'Home' page, where you have 'Favorites', 'All Devices', etc., if you tap and hold an item, you can rearrange all the items in any order. It might be easy to implement the same functionality for 'Shortcuts'and 'Automations' on the 'Smart' page.

For searching, a new action button could be added at the top of the UI (where the "Add" action ("+") and others are currently located, depending on the page). Ideally, this would function on any page ('Home', 'Smart', etc.). When tapped, it would display a text box for entering the search term. The items on the page would then filter out those that do not include the search term in their name (Device name, Shortcut name, Automation name, etc.), or a device name within an automation when using this feature on the Smart > Automation page.

I have a screenshot illustrating the idea, but uploading it here always fails.

By implementing these two features, the experience will be significantly improved.

Best regards

Hi,
Thank you for your detailed explanation. We certainly appreciate your feedback and feature requests.
While we don't have specific details on whether these features can be added to the product or when they might be, I'll log these feature requests and pass them along to the relevant team for evaluation.
If other users have the same request, please vote on this thread and leave your comments.
Best Regards

 Hi @hhh3,

It is possible to manually sort automations and shortcutsin the app on android, (although no so intuitive).

In the smart actions tab, "long hold" and then slide one of the automations. You will then see it selected with a tick against it. You can then select multiple items by tapping on then if you need.

Once selected "long hold" again and drag up or down.

Same for shortcuts...

Hope this helps.

It works, thank you!

Now, it would be nice to filter/search within Shortcuts and Automations (and 'All Devices' too, if possible).

This could be achieved by adding 'containers' (similar to 'groups' for devices). This would at least allow for organizing all the items into logical groups. Additionally, a 'search' feature similar to what was described in this same thread, or the addition of 'tags' to enable filtering by them, would be helpful.

For example, I have only three buttons, which implies just 12 automations (rotate left/right, tap single/twice). Add a few lamps and sensors, and you can easily reach 35+ automations. While that may not be too many, without a search or filter option, they are hard to locate. The same applies to Shortcuts.
