Person detection in poor daylight
I am finding person detection and tracking to be very poor (usually non existent) after dark in day mode. Why would I be using day mode after dark you may ask. The answer is I am not, the camera is set to auto, but it does not switch to night mode while street lighting is on.

Hi,
When the Video mode is set to Auto, the Tapo Camera automatically switches between Day and Night modes based on the ambient lighting conditions. In your situation, if the streetlights are bright, it's normal for the camera not to switch to night mode. We recommend adjusting the camera's position to avoid including streetlights in its field of view.

Hi @Solla-topee
Thank you for your response. As this is not a practical solution for any position at the front of a house a few metres from the road where a street light is on the opposite side of the road, and is no doubt an issue reproduced in many homes, may I suggest more appropriate recommendations?
1. Allow the user to schedule night mode similarly to how the alarm can be scheduled (you could also give the choice of selecting an auto night mode setting, programmed to activate from dusk to dawn according to the time of year).
2. I think I saw details for another camera which allowed you to adjust the amount of ambient light in which the night mode would operate. If I am right and this feature were enabled for this camera that could also be answer perhaps!
Kind Regards, Mike

@Solla-topee thank you for your response. I have left a comment on the thread you mentioned but I do not know how to vote.
Also there is quite a long delay before the light which enables colour vision comes on in night mode, meaning that it comes on much too long after detection to be useful. I'm not sure if this is the same thing as the spotlight, but the spotlight also has quite a long delay before it comes on – when a person has been detected for example. Again, this makes the spotlight much less useful as a deterrent.

Hi,
Usually, on the first page of a feature request thread, you can see the number of votes on this thread, and you can tap it to vote.
Regarding the phenomenon of the spotlight illuminating with a delay after the camera detects an event, it's suggested to start a new thread here with the following information for further assistance.
1. A detailed description of the phenomenon you experience.
2. Your camera's Detection settings on the Device Settings > Detection page, such as what detection types are enabled, and what the sensitivity value is.
3. Have you enabled the motion tracking/auto tracking feature?
Best Regards
