C420 cameras not working as should after reset
C420 cameras not working as should after reset
Hi,
I've been using the C420S1 cameras & hub without any issues, but just recently one of the cameras was falsely reporting a battery as flat. So I removed the battery & swapped it out which began to show the correct battery status but the battery icon kept vanishing on the app.
I decided to reset the camera & re-add it to the hub which did work, but the motion detection on the camera has now vanished from the app.
I've checked all the rest of the settings & each one is blank too where settings should be showing.
I tested a theory that it may be something to do with the reset process & reset my 2nd camera, after going through the same process with the 2nd camera & that's now acting the same as the first with blank options in the settings. I can still see the live feed after 10 - 30 seconds, but it just won't allow me to set any options unless I go into the device options.
I'll try and upload a screenshot of this issue if I can.

Hi,
We suggested trying the steps in this post for your reported phenomenon. If your iPad does not have mobile data, you can reset the C420, then reconfigure it on your phone after disabling Wi-Fi on your phone. After the C420 is successfully configured, you can manage it on the iPad.
Btw, we do not have the instructions to downgrade the camera's firmware. Removing the battery after a reset may not help.

CONFIRMED, the issue is revolving around WiFi. Having the iPhone on Mobile data shows all the settings & options. Soon as the iPhone is set to WiFi all the options vanish.
I don't want to have to keep switching to mobile data just to see the options & recordings, this is VERY frustrating.

Hi,
Usually, if you follow the steps in this post to set up your camera, you can control it and change its settings properly in the Tapo app, even if your iPad is on the same Wi-Fi network as the camera.

I followed the instructions to reset the cameras & used the phone to add them back to the hub. I could see all the settings perfectly, but as soon as I switched back to WiFi the settings vanished on the iPhone & the iPad. So it's either a bug or an issue with the camera or the app. I'd say it's more a bug with the cameras.
