Model: Tapo C520WS
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 build 250911 rel.44761n

Hello,

I have an issue with my TP-Link Tapo C520WS camera.

The camera was working normally before, but suddenly stopped working. Now the LED shows a solid red light (not blinking). Unplugging it from power and plugging it back in does not change anything.

I also tried to reset the camera using the reset hole (holding the reset button for more than 15-20 seconds while powered on), but nothing happens - the LED stays solid red and the camera does not enter pairing mode. There is no movement from the camera on startup either(Only red light).

At the moment the camera is completely unresponsive and cannot be added back to the Tapo app.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there any recovery procedure (for example firmware restore), or does this indicate hardware failure?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi,
You can try the following steps and see if they help.

  1. Turn off your camera, and remove the SD card from it if there is one. Turn the camera back on with the original power adapter and cord.
  2. Wait for two minutes, press and hold the reset button on the camera for 10 seconds to perform a factory reset. Then, check the LED status on the camera.
  3. If the LED is flashing red and green, you can try to reconfigure the camera in the Tapo app: How to set up the Tapo camera
  4. If the camera's LED does not change and the camera does not respond to the reset operation, you can contact your retailer or the local support team to check if the camera is under warranty.

Best Regards
