I have two tapo c420 installed and using them for 2 years now without any issue. Suddenly a month or two now I have a problem with both of them. The problem is although I have both cameras on privacy the keep recording when a person is directed and send notifications... The camera are on privacy.... They should be closed. When I open the software on my mobile it does day the camera privacy is on and I see no footage BUT I receive video and notifications the same time... I am going crazy over here.. awaiting your reply

Please share more details about your devices. What's the firmware version of the camera? Which Tapo hub do they connect to? Please also check the hub's hardware and firmware versions.

I have had had a similar problem to this for the last month or so with one of my two C420 cameras.  One camera is absolutely fine.  However, the other is not and, despite being in privacy mode, it continues to record video when movement triggers it, and it also sends notifications.  I have tried taking the battery out, have disabled the auto privacy mode in the battery settings, and have tried toggling privacy mode many times.  Nothing stops it recording and sending notifications even in privacy mode.  I do not particularly want to have to do a factory reset.   Is this a hub firmware thing?  I notice that another H200 hub that I have in a different location now has firmware 1.61, but that update hasn't arrived yet for this location.

 

Tapo C420 cameras both have hardware ver 1.0   firmware ver 1.41 build 20250912 rel 65176

 

Tapo H200 hub  hardware ver 1.0   firmware ver 1.60 build 20250915 rel 33520
