Model: Tapo C425 KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.2

I installed a C425 camera yesterday and it was working perfectly.

During the night, the camera performed an automatic firmware update and after that it completely stopped working.

Now it only shows a red LED blinking twice, does not connect to the app, and does not respond to any commands.

I have already tried:

  • Physical reset (multiple times, following the correct procedure 10s)

Nothing worked.

I am absolutely certain the issue was caused by the automatic firmware update, which appears to have corrupted the firmware. The camera has less than 24 hours of use.

Important note:

This camera was purchased while traveling, so returning or exchanging it is not an option. I really need a technical solution to try to recover it.

Questions for anyone familiar with this model:

  • Does the 2 red LED blink pattern indicate a firmware or boot error?
  • Is there any way to manually reinstall the firmware, for example via microSD, recovery mode, or another method?
  • Are there any official or unofficial procedures to try to “unbrick” the camera?

⚠️ Warning to others:

I strongly recommend disabling automatic updates, as in my case the update turned a brand-new camera into a brick.

Any technical guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
If both IR LEDs are consistently lit and do not respond to a reset operation, it indicates the camera may be bricked. However, it's hard to say what caused this phenomenon.
Based on the information you provided, it's recommended to contact our technical support team to see if there are any suggestions for "unbrick" the camera.
Best Regards
