Tapo C100 - year old images coming up as current view?
Tapo C100 - year old images coming up as current view?
The absolute oddest thing. When I click on playback and download, the top image is a year old image (2025-10-04), currently saying 15.37 (it's 1.16 pm).
When I click on the detected event below it doesnt change the top image. When I click to download the detecetd event it downloads an old clip.
I'm stuck.
I've rebooted.
I've done a factory reset.
I'm out of options.

Hi,
For the reported case, please uninstall the Tapo app, then download and reinstall the latest Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, and then test if this helps.
If the same phenomenon persists, please confirm the following information for further analysis.
1. What's your phone's model number and OS? What's the Tapo app version?
2. Please go to the Tapo app > camera's Playback & Download > Playback page, send us screenshots of this page or a video showing the reported phenomenon. You can upload the screenshots or video to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.
3. Do the detection video clips below the top image display the correct date and time? If you download the video clips below the top image to your phone, do they show the correct date and time?
Best Regards

Hi,
Thank you for the information provided. In your case, please refer to the instructions to view the SD card recordings on a computer. As shown in Q2 of the instructions below, please send us a screenshot of the MP4 file's name. Do they start with 2025xxxx or 2026xxxx?
How to view camera SD card recordings on a computer
What's the model number and capacity of your microSD card? You can back up the video recordings from the SD card to your computer, then insert the SD card into the camera, format it in the Tapo app, and then check if the reported phenomenon disappears.

@Solla-topee Hi, I don't have an SD card slot on my mac OR an SD card adapter. Could you sort a 24 hour tapo care sub maybe to rule out if its the SD card or the camera?

@DSpy It's OK. I still had a free trial for Tapo Care so I started that and vids saved there are fine. So I've ordered a new SD card to see if that solves it

Hi,
Thank you for your attempt and update. Typically, we suggest using an SD card from the compatibility list with our Tapo cameras.
What type of microSD card does Tapo/Kasa Camera support?

@Solla-topee The same problem happens with the new SD card. It IS one of the ones you recommend, as is the existing one.
So, it works fine, on the Tapo Care - which up until a few days ago I hadnevr used. As I've also said I have 2 cameras. The other one continues to work fine.
What next please?

Hi,
As per the compatibility list in the FAQ below, only the SanDisk Ultra 64G SD card is listed. Is it the new one or the old one?
What type of microSD card does Tapo/Kasa Camera support?
You can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot if you fail to format the 64G SD card. If it can be formatted successfully, please wait 1-2 hours, then check whether the video recordings stored on the SD card display the correct time and date.
What should I do if the SD card cannot be formatted/recognized?
Best Regards
