Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if anyone is able to create an automation for the doorbell so that ONLY on button press, it sends a notification to all google home speakers within a house.

I saw some historic posts that this was possible with a custom automation both based on button press and potentially on ring of the linked chime/hub, but I cannot do this as the starter is not present on the Home App.

Using the linked hub/chime (H100/H110/H200/H500) as a routine trigger should be feasible. Just be careful not to set up other automations that also ring the same hub. Otherwise, you might get a false “doorbell press” notification when it’s actually just a motion sensor triggering.

  @Wayne-TP

Thanks for the response on this one Wayne, although there is no option on the Hub or the Doorbell for any of the notifications or starter actions.  I have also included 2 screenshots below.

Unfortunately this feature is a deal breaker, you either have the speakers in your home alerting every time the doorbell detects a person or a movement regardless of whether the doorbell was pressed at all.... or, not at all.

Is there anything else that can be done to rectify this?

The "on" state of the hub should refer to the ringing state. You can create a routine directly to test it out.

Hi  @Wildobagins,

Not sure if you managed to get the below to work. I have a workaround to trigger Google actions from Tapo events (where the device is not fully integrated) which may assist. It requires an additional tapo device and should work.

To make your scenario work do the following:

First of all you need to purchase a P100 plug which will only be used for this automation (i.e sound a notification on google speakers when doorbell is pressed). Plug it in a place which is out of the way and can't be removed or turned on/off. It will be used as a bridge between Tapo and Google for the automation.

When the Doorbell is pressed then use Tapo automation to also turn the P100 plug on/off. Use the "Turn On/Off" action to toggle the status.

Then use Google automation (as it works well with P100's) to generate a notification to your google speakers whenever the P100 is turned on or off.

Unfortunately you need to purchase an additional P100 to act as the bridge but this solution should work well.

Hope this makes sense and let me know if you need any assistance with the above.
